May have an important role in producing the neuromodulator gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB). Has broad substrate specificity. Has NADPH-dependent aldehyde reductase activity towards 2-carboxybenzaldehyde, 2- nitrobenzaldehyde and pyridine-2-aldehyde (in vitro). Can reduce 1,2-naphthoquinone and 9,10-phenanthrenequinone (in vitro). Can reduce the dialdehyde protein-binding form of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) to the non-binding AFB1 dialcohol. May be involved in protection of liver against the toxic and carcinogenic effects of AFB1, a potent hepatocarcinogen. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17591773, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9576847}. |Aldo ket red| |phenanthrene-9,10-epoxide hydrolase activity| |doxorubicin metabolic process| |polyketide metabolic process| |daunorubicin metabolic process| |aminoglycoside antibiotic metabolic process| |tertiary alcohol metabolic process| |alditol:NADP+ 1-oxidoreductase activity| |glycoside metabolic process| |quinone metabolic process| |cellular aldehyde metabolic process| |secondary metabolic process| |cellular ketone metabolic process| |electron transfer activity| |primary alcohol metabolic process| |antibiotic metabolic process| |xenobiotic metabolic process| |glycosyl compound metabolic process| |electron transport chain| |cellular response to xenobiotic stimulus| |ammonium ion metabolic process| |response to xenobiotic stimulus| |alcohol metabolic process| |generation of precursor metabolites and energy| |cofactor metabolic process| |organic hydroxy compound metabolic process| |carbohydrate metabolic process| |drug metabolic process| |oxidation-reduction process| |Golgi apparatus| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |small molecule metabolic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
