Three major classes of transcripts are generated from this gene- melanoma inhibitory activity 2-specific transcripts, cTAGE family member 5-specific transcripts and transcripts that include exons from both these transcript species (TANGO1-like or TALI). Additionally, alternative splicing in these transcripts results in multiple transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2016]. * **UniProt Summary**: Plays a role in the transport of cargos that are too large to fit into COPII-coated vesicles and require specific mechanisms to be incorporated into membrane-bound carriers and exported from the endoplasmic reticulum. Isoform 1 plays a role in the secretion of lipoproteins, pre-chylomicrons and pre-VLDLs, by participating in their export from the endoplasmic reticulum (PubMed:27138255). Thereby, may play a role in cholesterol and triglyceride homeostasis (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q91ZV0, ECO:0000269|PubMed:27138255}. |SH3 2| |vesicle cargo loading| |endoplasmic reticulum exit site| |protein secretion| |establishment of protein localization to extracellular region| |protein localization to extracellular region| |peptide secretion| |endoplasmic reticulum to Golgi vesicle-mediated transport| |Golgi vesicle transport| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |secretion by cell| |export from cell| |secretion| |protein transport| |intracellular transport| |peptide transport| |amide transport| |establishment of protein localization| |establishment of localization in cell| |nitrogen compound transport| |vesicle-mediated transport| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |CB-5083 0.4μM R08 exp468|-1.87| |42°C R08 exp539|1.87| |Bafilomycin-A1 0.009μM R08 exp454|2.18| ^Gene^Correlation^ |RRM1|0.517| |HGC6.3|0.42| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 15064 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 5.31
