The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and its expression is induced by rifampin. The enzyme is known to metabolize many xenobiotics, including phenytoin, tolbutamide, ibuprofen and S-warfarin. Studies identifying individuals who are poor metabolizers of phenytoin and tolbutamide suggest that this gene is polymorphic. The gene is located within a cluster of cytochrome P450 genes on chromosome 10q24. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Cytochromes P450 are a group of heme-thiolate monooxygenases. In liver microsomes, this enzyme is involved in an NADPH-dependent electron transport pathway. It oxidizes a variety of structurally unrelated compounds, including steroids, fatty acids, and xenobiotics (PubMed:25994031). This enzyme contributes to the wide pharmacokinetics variability of the metabolism of drugs such as S-warfarin, diclofenac, phenytoin, tolbutamide and losartan (PubMed:25994031). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:25994031}. |p450| |caffeine oxidase activity| |monoterpenoid metabolic process| |omega-hydroxylase P450 pathway| |urea metabolic process| |nitrogen cycle metabolic process| |arachidonic acid epoxygenase activity| |oxidative demethylation| |epoxygenase P450 pathway| |exogenous drug catabolic process| |oxidoreductase activity, acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen, reduced flavin or flavoprotein as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen| |long-chain fatty acid biosynthetic process| |monooxygenase activity| |estrogen metabolic process| |steroid hydroxylase activity| |icosanoid biosynthetic process| |drug binding| |arachidonic acid metabolic process| |demethylation| |fatty acid derivative biosynthetic process| |unsaturated fatty acid metabolic process| |icosanoid metabolic process| |long-chain fatty acid metabolic process| |oxidoreductase activity| |fatty acid biosynthetic process| |terpenoid metabolic process| |cellular hormone metabolic process| |xenobiotic metabolic process| |iron ion binding| |isoprenoid metabolic process| |heme binding| |drug catabolic process| |fatty acid derivative metabolic process| |monocarboxylic acid biosynthetic process| |cellular response to xenobiotic stimulus| |hormone metabolic process| |steroid metabolic process| |response to xenobiotic stimulus| |carboxylic acid biosynthetic process| |organic acid biosynthetic process| |fatty acid metabolic process| |drug metabolic process| |monocarboxylic acid metabolic process| |regulation of hormone levels| |lipid biosynthetic process| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |intracellular membrane-bounded organelle| |cellular amide metabolic process| |carboxylic acid metabolic process| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |cellular lipid metabolic process| |oxidation-reduction process| |oxoacid metabolic process| |response to drug| |organic acid metabolic process| |lipid metabolic process| |small molecule metabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
