The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This enzyme is a microsomal vitamin D hydroxylase that converts vitamin D into the active ligand for the vitamin D receptor. A mutation in this gene has been associated with selective 25-hydroxyvitamin D deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Has a D-25-hydroxylase activity on both forms of vitamin D, vitamin D(2) and D(3). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12867411, ECO:0000269|PubMed:15465040, ECO:0000269|PubMed:18511070}. |p450| |response to cesium ion| |vitamin D3 25-hydroxylase activity| |calcitriol biosynthetic process from calciol| |vitamin D biosynthetic process| |vitamin D3 metabolic process| |cellular alcohol biosynthetic process| |cellular alcohol metabolic process| |fat-soluble vitamin biosynthetic process| |vitamin D metabolic process| |vitamin biosynthetic process| |exogenous drug catabolic process| |oxidoreductase activity, acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen, reduced flavin or flavoprotein as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen| |steroid hydroxylase activity| |fat-soluble vitamin metabolic process| |steroid hormone biosynthetic process| |polyol biosynthetic process| |hormone biosynthetic process| |polyol metabolic process| |alcohol biosynthetic process| |vitamin metabolic process| |steroid biosynthetic process| |secondary alcohol metabolic process| |xenobiotic metabolic process| |iron ion binding| |heme binding| |drug catabolic process| |response to ionizing radiation| |organic hydroxy compound biosynthetic process| |cellular response to xenobiotic stimulus| |hormone metabolic process| |steroid metabolic process| |response to xenobiotic stimulus| |alcohol metabolic process| |response to metal ion| |response to radiation| |organic hydroxy compound metabolic process| |drug metabolic process| |regulation of hormone levels| |response to inorganic substance| |lipid biosynthetic process| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |intracellular membrane-bounded organelle| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |oxidation-reduction process| |response to drug| |organic acid metabolic process| |response to abiotic stimulus| |lipid metabolic process| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |small molecule metabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
