The protein encoded by this gene contains 3'-5' exoribonuclease activity and is a catalytic component of this complex. [provided by RefSeq, May 2016]. * **UniProt Summary**: Putative cytoplasm-specific catalytic component of the RNA exosome complex which has 3'->5' exoribonuclease activity and participates in a multitude of cellular RNA processing and degradation events. In the cytoplasm, the RNA exosome complex is involved in general mRNA turnover and specifically degrades inherently unstable mRNAs containing AU-rich elements (AREs) within their 3' untranslated regions, and in RNA surveillance pathways, preventing translation of aberrant mRNAs. It seems to be involved in degradation of histone mRNA. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:20531386, ECO:0000269|PubMed:20531389}. |RNB| |cytoplasmic exosome (RNase complex)| |nuclear exosome (RNase complex)| |exosome (RNase complex)| |rRNA catabolic process| |ncRNA catabolic process| |3-5-exoribonuclease activity| |endonuclease activity| |RNA phosphodiester bond hydrolysis, exonucleolytic| |RNA phosphodiester bond hydrolysis| |rRNA metabolic process| |RNA catabolic process| |nucleic acid phosphodiester bond hydrolysis| |enzyme binding| |nucleobase-containing compound catabolic process| |heterocycle catabolic process| |cellular nitrogen compound catabolic process| |aromatic compound catabolic process| |ncRNA metabolic process| |organic cyclic compound catabolic process| |centrosome| |cellular macromolecule catabolic process| |macromolecule catabolic process| |RNA binding| |RNA metabolic process| |organic substance catabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp435|JQ1 0.8μM R08 exp435]]|-2.72| |[[:results:exp6|Bortezomib 0.005μM R00 exp6]]|-2.47| |[[:results:exp481|Ethambutol 25μM R08 exp481]]|-2.02| |[[:results:exp485|GSK626616 14μM R08 exp485]]|-1.9| |[[:results:exp1|5-Fluorouracil 2μM R00 exp1]]|-1.83| |[[:results:exp461|BS-181 20μM R08 exp461]]|1.76| |[[:results:exp289|Hydroxyurea 15μM R06 exp289]]|1.99| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
