It is a microtubule-dependent motor ATPase and has been reported to be involved in the movement of respiratory cilia. Mutations in this gene have been implicated in causing Kartagener Syndrome (a combination of situs inversus totalis and Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD), also called Immotile Cilia Syndrome 1 (ICS1)) and male sterility. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2013]. * **UniProt Summary**: Force generating protein of respiratory cilia. Produces force towards the minus ends of microtubules. Dynein has ATPase activity; the force-producing power stroke is thought to occur on release of ADP. |AAA 5| |Dynein heavy| |MT| |AAA 9| |AAA 6| |AAA 8| |AAA 7| |DHC N1| |DHC N2| |9+0 motile cilium| |proximal portion of axoneme| |determination of left/right asymmetry in nervous system| |sperm flagellum movement involved in flagellated sperm motility| |9+2 motile cilium| |epithelial cilium movement involved in determination of left/right asymmetry| |regulation of cilium beat frequency| |regulation of cilium movement| |cilium movement involved in cell motility| |ATP-dependent microtubule motor activity, minus-end-directed| |dynein complex| |dynein light chain binding| |epithelial cilium movement involved in extracellular fluid movement| |dynein light intermediate chain binding| |dynein intermediate chain binding| |extracellular transport| |regulation of microtubule-based movement| |cilium movement| |determination of heart left/right asymmetry| |sperm motility| |flagellated sperm motility| |cardiac septum morphogenesis| |cilium or flagellum-dependent cell motility| |cilium-dependent cell motility| |axoneme| |cardiac septum development| |determination of left/right symmetry| |determination of bilateral symmetry| |specification of symmetry| |cardiac chamber morphogenesis| |cardiac chamber development| |microtubule-based transport| |regulation of microtubule-based process| |heart morphogenesis| |learning or memory| |microtubule-based movement| |cognition| |microtubule| |pattern specification process| |heart development| |behavior| |microtubule-based process| |circulatory system development| |animal organ morphogenesis| |regulation of cellular component movement| |localization of cell| |cell motility| |locomotion| |nervous system process| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |ATP binding| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |extracellular region| |system process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp244|SB743921 0.001μM R05 exp244]]|2.22| |[[:results:exp94|Nocodazole 0.1μM R03 exp94]]|2.73| |[[:results:exp93|DABN racemic mixture R03 exp93]]|2.8| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
