This factor enables cells to initiate the blood coagulation cascades, and it functions as the high-affinity receptor for the coagulation factor VII. The resulting complex provides a catalytic event that is responsible for initiation of the coagulation protease cascades by specific limited proteolysis. Unlike the other cofactors of these protease cascades, which circulate as nonfunctional precursors, this factor is a potent initiator that is fully functional when expressed on cell surfaces. There are 3 distinct domains of this factor: extracellular, transmembrane, and cytoplasmic. This protein is the only one in the coagulation pathway for which a congenital deficiency has not been described. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, May 2010]. * **UniProt Summary**: Initiates blood coagulation by forming a complex with circulating factor VII or VIIa. The [TF:VIIa] complex activates factors IX or X by specific limited protolysis. TF plays a role in normal hemostasis by initiating the cell-surface assembly and propagation of the coagulation protease cascade. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12652293}. |Interfer-bind| |Tissue fac| |activation of plasma proteins involved in acute inflammatory response| |serine-type peptidase complex| |activation of blood coagulation via clotting cascade| |intrinsic component of external side of plasma membrane| |blood coagulation, extrinsic pathway| |positive regulation of platelet-derived growth factor receptor signaling pathway| |regulation of platelet-derived growth factor receptor signaling pathway| |positive regulation of positive chemotaxis| |positive regulation of blood coagulation| |protein activation cascade| |regulation of positive chemotaxis| |blood coagulation, fibrin clot formation| |positive regulation of hemostasis| |positive regulation of coagulation| |cytokine receptor activity| |positive regulation of wound healing| |positive regulation of response to wounding| |acute inflammatory response| |regulation of blood coagulation| |regulation of hemostasis| |regulation of coagulation| |activation of cysteine-type endopeptidase activity involved in apoptotic process| |positive regulation of endothelial cell proliferation| |protease binding| |phospholipid binding| |regulation of endothelial cell proliferation| |positive regulation of cysteine-type endopeptidase activity involved in apoptotic process| |positive regulation of chemotaxis| |regulation of wound healing| |positive regulation of cysteine-type endopeptidase activity| |protein processing| |positive regulation of angiogenesis| |serine-type endopeptidase activity| |positive regulation of protein kinase B signaling| |regulation of response to wounding| |positive regulation of endopeptidase activity| |positive regulation of vasculature development| |positive regulation of epithelial cell proliferation| |positive regulation of peptidase activity| |regulation of chemotaxis| |regulation of cysteine-type endopeptidase activity involved in apoptotic process| |regulation of protein kinase B signaling| |protein maturation| |regulation of cysteine-type endopeptidase activity| |regulation of angiogenesis| |blood coagulation| |coagulation| |hemostasis| |regulation of vasculature development| |regulation of epithelial cell proliferation| |positive regulation of proteolysis| |collagen-containing extracellular matrix| |regulation of endopeptidase activity| |regulation of peptidase activity| |wound healing| |regulation of body fluid levels| |inflammatory response| |positive regulation of cell migration| |positive regulation of cell motility| |positive regulation of cellular component movement| |positive regulation of locomotion| |response to wounding| |positive regulation of response to external stimulus| |cell surface| |positive regulation of apoptotic process| |positive regulation of programmed cell death| |cytokine-mediated signaling pathway| |positive regulation of cell death| |regulation of proteolysis| |positive regulation of hydrolase activity| |regulation of cell migration| |regulation of cell motility| |positive regulation of cell population proliferation| |regulation of locomotion| |regulation of cellular component movement| |cellular response to cytokine stimulus| |positive regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |regulation of anatomical structure morphogenesis| |regulation of response to external stimulus| |response to cytokine| |proteolysis| |regulation of hydrolase activity| |defense response| |positive regulation of developmental process| |positive regulation of catalytic activity| |regulation of response to stress| |regulation of apoptotic process| |regulation of programmed cell death| |extracellular space| |positive regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |positive regulation of signal transduction| |regulation of cell death| |positive regulation of protein metabolic process| |positive regulation of multicellular organismal process| |positive regulation of molecular function| |positive regulation of cell communication| |positive regulation of signaling| |regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |gene expression| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
