L-glutamate acts as an excitatory neurotransmitter at many synapses in the central nervous system. Binding of the excitatory neurotransmitter L- glutamate induces a conformation change, leading to the opening of the cation channel, and thereby converts the chemical signal to an electrical impulse. The receptor then desensitizes rapidly and enters a transient inactive state, characterized by the presence of bound agonist. May be involved in the transmission of light information from the retina to the hypothalamus. |Lig chan| |SBP bac 3| |ANF receptor| |Lig chan-Glu bd| |kainate selective glutamate receptor activity| |kainate selective glutamate receptor complex| |glutamate receptor activity| |ionotropic glutamate receptor signaling pathway| |synaptic transmission, glutamatergic| |transmitter-gated ion channel activity involved in regulation of postsynaptic membrane potential| |glutamate receptor signaling pathway| |regulation of synaptic transmission, glutamatergic| |presynaptic membrane| |regulation of postsynaptic membrane potential| |postsynaptic membrane| |anterograde trans-synaptic signaling| |chemical synaptic transmission| |regulation of membrane potential| |trans-synaptic signaling| |modulation of chemical synaptic transmission| |regulation of trans-synaptic signaling| |synaptic signaling| |cell junction| |ion transmembrane transport| |central nervous system development| |cell-cell signaling| |transmembrane transport| |ion transport| |integral component of plasma membrane| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp125|GSK461364A 0.005μM R03 exp125]]|-2.19| |[[:results:exp112|S-DABN 8μM R03 exp112]]|-2.08| |[[:results:exp515|PU-H71 1μM R08 exp515]]|-1.86| |[[:results:exp301|VER-155008 3.9μM R06 exp301]]|-1.85| |[[:results:exp483|FTY720 3μM R08 exp483]]|-1.82| |[[:results:exp270|Campthothecin 0.001μM R06 exp270]]|-1.75| |[[:results:exp100|NFN1 1μM R03 exp100]]|-1.75| |[[:results:exp121|Golgicide-A 2μM R03 exp121]]|-1.74| |[[:results:exp19|Etoposide 1μM R00 exp19]]|2.01| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
