It belongs to the type I cytokine receptors, and has been shown to form a heterodimeric receptor complex with the common gamma-chain, a receptor subunit also shared by the receptors for interleukin 2, 4, 7, 9, and 15. This receptor transduces the growth promoting signal of IL21, and is important for the proliferation and differentiation of T cells, B cells, and natural killer (NK) cells. The ligand binding of this receptor leads to the activation of multiple downstream signaling molecules, including JAK1, JAK3, STAT1, and STAT3. Knockout studies of a similar gene in mouse suggest a role for this gene in regulating immunoglobulin production. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]. * **UniProt Summary**: This is a receptor for interleukin-21. No Pfam Domain information is available for this gene. |interleukin-21 receptor activity| |response to interleukin-21| |cellular response to interleukin-21| |interleukin-21-mediated signaling pathway| |cytokine receptor activity| |natural killer cell activation| |transmembrane signaling receptor activity| |lymphocyte activation| |cytokine-mediated signaling pathway| |leukocyte activation| |cellular response to cytokine stimulus| |cell activation| |response to cytokine| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp162|BI-D1870 2μM R04 exp162]]|-1.7| |[[:results:exp185|L-BMAA 500 to 750μM on day4 R04 exp185]]|1.75| |[[:results:exp176|Apcin 50 to 100μM on day4 R04 exp176]]|1.79| |[[:results:exp490|Hydroxychloroquine 30μM R08 exp490]]|1.8| |[[:results:exp390|Pifithrin-alpha 20μM R07 exp390]]|2.25| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
