This cytokine was shown to specifically inhibit the activation of NF-kappaB induced by interleukin 1 family, member 6 (IL1F6). This gene and eight other interleukin 1 family genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Inhibits the activity of interleukin-36 (IL36A,IL36B and IL36G) by binding to receptor IL1RL2 and preventing its association with the coreceptor IL1RAP for signaling. Part of the IL-36 signaling system that is thought to be present in epithelial barriers and to take part in local inflammatory response; similar to the IL-1 system with which it shares the coreceptor. Proposed to play a role in skin inflammation. May be involved in the innate immune response to fungal pathogens, such as Aspergillus fumigatus. May activate an anti-inflammatory signaling pathway by recruiting SIGIRR. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11466363, ECO:0000269|PubMed:21965679, ECO:0000269|PubMed:23147407}. |IL1| |negative regulation of interferon-gamma secretion| |interleukin-1 receptor antagonist activity| |antifungal humoral response| |regulation of interferon-gamma secretion| |interleukin-1 receptor binding| |negative regulation of interleukin-17 production| |regulation of interleukin-17 production| |negative regulation of interferon-gamma production| |defense response to fungus| |negative regulation of interleukin-6 production| |response to fungus| |negative regulation of cytokine-mediated signaling pathway| |negative regulation of response to cytokine stimulus| |negative regulation of cytokine secretion| |neutrophil chemotaxis| |granulocyte chemotaxis| |neutrophil migration| |positive regulation of interleukin-6 production| |regulation of interferon-gamma production| |granulocyte migration| |antimicrobial humoral response| |myeloid leukocyte migration| |negative regulation of protein secretion| |positive regulation of JNK cascade| |negative regulation of peptide secretion| |regulation of interleukin-6 production| |leukocyte chemotaxis| |regulation of cytokine-mediated signaling pathway| |positive regulation of stress-activated MAPK cascade| |positive regulation of stress-activated protein kinase signaling cascade| |cytokine activity| |regulation of response to cytokine stimulus| |negative regulation of protein transport| |cellular response to lipopolysaccharide| |positive regulation of I-kappaB kinase/NF-kappaB signaling| |regulation of JNK cascade| |negative regulation of establishment of protein localization| |cellular response to molecule of bacterial origin| |negative regulation of secretion by cell| |regulation of cytokine secretion| |cell chemotaxis| |cellular response to biotic stimulus| |negative regulation of secretion| |regulation of stress-activated MAPK cascade| |regulation of I-kappaB kinase/NF-kappaB signaling| |regulation of stress-activated protein kinase signaling cascade| |negative regulation of cytokine production| |response to lipopolysaccharide| |response to molecule of bacterial origin| |humoral immune response| |leukocyte migration| |positive regulation of cytokine production| |regulation of protein secretion| |negative regulation of transport| |regulation of peptide secretion| |inflammatory response| |cellular response to lipid| |positive regulation of MAPK cascade| |chemotaxis| |taxis| |cytokine-mediated signaling pathway| |response to bacterium| |regulation of cytokine production| |regulation of protein transport| |regulation of cellular response to stress| |regulation of peptide transport| |regulation of establishment of protein localization| |regulation of secretion by cell| |regulation of MAPK cascade| |innate immune response| |regulation of secretion| |response to lipid| |defense response to other organism| |cell migration| |cellular response to cytokine stimulus| |positive regulation of protein phosphorylation| |positive regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |regulation of protein localization| |cellular response to oxygen-containing compound| |positive regulation of phosphorylation| |cell motility| |localization of cell| |response to cytokine| |positive regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |positive regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |negative regulation of multicellular organismal process| |positive regulation of protein modification process| |negative regulation of signal transduction| |response to other organism| |response to external biotic stimulus| |locomotion| |response to biotic stimulus| |defense response| |negative regulation of cell communication| |negative regulation of signaling| |regulation of protein phosphorylation| |regulation of response to stress| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |response to oxygen-containing compound| |regulation of phosphorylation| |extracellular space| |positive regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |negative regulation of response to stimulus| |positive regulation of signal transduction| |positive regulation of protein metabolic process| |positive regulation of multicellular organismal process| |regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |positive regulation of cell communication| |positive regulation of signaling| |regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |regulation of protein modification process| |regulation of transport| |immune response| |extracellular region| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
