The encoded protein is mainly produced in gonadal tissues. Studies of the mouse counterpart suggest that this gene may be involved in the development of urogenital tract and female fertility. This protein may also act as a hormone to regulate growth and differentiation of gubernaculum, and thus mediating intra-abdominal testicular descent. Mutations in this gene may lead to cryptorchidism. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, May 2012]. * **UniProt Summary**: Seems to play a role in testicular function. May be a trophic hormone with a role in testicular descent in fetal life. Is a ligand for LGR8 receptor. |Insulin| |insulin receptor binding| |positive regulation of wound healing| |positive regulation of response to wounding| |G protein-coupled receptor binding| |adenylate cyclase-inhibiting G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |hormone activity| |protease binding| |regulation of wound healing| |positive regulation of epithelial cell migration| |regulation of response to wounding| |adenylate cyclase-modulating G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |regulation of epithelial cell migration| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway, coupled to cyclic nucleotide second messenger| |signaling receptor binding| |positive regulation of cell migration| |positive regulation of cell motility| |positive regulation of cellular component movement| |spermatogenesis| |positive regulation of locomotion| |male gamete generation| |gamete generation| |multicellular organismal reproductive process| |sexual reproduction| |multicellular organism reproduction| |regulation of cell migration| |regulation of cell motility| |regulation of locomotion| |regulation of cellular component movement| |multi-organism reproductive process| |cell-cell signaling| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |regulation of response to stress| |extracellular space| |positive regulation of multicellular organismal process| |extracellular region| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
