LIM domains are highly conserved cysteine-rich structures containing 2 zinc fingers. Although zinc fingers usually function by binding to DNA or RNA, the LIM motif probably mediates protein-protein interactions. LIM kinase-1 and LIM kinase-2 belong to a small subfamily with a unique combination of 2 N-terminal LIM motifs and a C-terminal protein kinase domain. LIMK1 is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates actin polymerization via phosphorylation and inactivation of the actin binding factor cofilin. This protein is ubiquitously expressed during development and plays a role in many cellular processes associated with cytoskeletal structure. This protein also stimulates axon growth and may play a role in brain development. LIMK1 hemizygosity is implicated in the impaired visuospatial constructive cognition of Williams syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]. * **UniProt Summary**: N/A |Pkinase Tyr| |LIM| |Pkinase| |Kdo| |PDZ| |negative regulation of ubiquitin-protein transferase activity| |positive regulation of axon extension| |positive regulation of stress fiber assembly| |regulation of ubiquitin-protein transferase activity| |heat shock protein binding| |positive regulation of actin filament bundle assembly| |negative regulation of protein ubiquitination| |Rho protein signal transduction| |regulation of stress fiber assembly| |negative regulation of protein modification by small protein conjugation or removal| |positive regulation of axonogenesis| |regulation of actomyosin structure organization| |regulation of actin filament bundle assembly| |regulation of axon extension| |regulation of extent of cell growth| |immune response-regulating cell surface receptor signaling pathway involved in phagocytosis| |Fc-gamma receptor signaling pathway involved in phagocytosis| |Fc receptor mediated stimulatory signaling pathway| |Fc-gamma receptor signaling pathway| |positive regulation of cell morphogenesis involved in differentiation| |positive regulation of cell growth| |positive regulation of developmental growth| |lamellipodium| |regulation of cell size| |regulation of axonogenesis| |positive regulation of supramolecular fiber organization| |regulation of protein ubiquitination| |positive regulation of cytoskeleton organization| |regulation of protein modification by small protein conjugation or removal| |protein kinase activity| |Fc receptor signaling pathway| |Ras protein signal transduction| |positive regulation of growth| |regulation of actin filament organization| |negative regulation of transferase activity| |positive regulation of neuron projection development| |regulation of cell morphogenesis involved in differentiation| |small GTPase mediated signal transduction| |neuron projection| |regulation of developmental growth| |phagocytosis| |regulation of actin cytoskeleton organization| |regulation of supramolecular fiber organization| |protein serine/threonine kinase activity| |positive regulation of neuron differentiation| |regulation of cellular component size| |positive regulation of cell projection organization| |regulation of actin filament-based process| |nuclear speck| |focal adhesion| |regulation of cell growth| |immune response-activating cell surface receptor signaling pathway| |positive regulation of neurogenesis| |immune response-regulating cell surface receptor signaling pathway| |protein heterodimerization activity| |regulation of cell morphogenesis| |actin cytoskeleton organization| |regulation of neuron projection development| |regulation of anatomical structure size| |positive regulation of cellular component biogenesis| |positive regulation of nervous system development| |regulation of cytoskeleton organization| |positive regulation of cell development| |immune response-activating signal transduction| |actin filament-based process| |negative regulation of protein modification process| |immune response-regulating signaling pathway| |positive regulation of organelle organization| |activation of immune response| |regulation of neuron differentiation| |regulation of growth| |regulation of plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |regulation of cell projection organization| |negative regulation of catalytic activity| |regulation of neurogenesis| |positive regulation of immune response| |regulation of nervous system development| |regulation of cell development| |regulation of cellular component biogenesis| |positive regulation of cell differentiation| |protein phosphorylation| |regulation of transferase activity| |negative regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |regulation of anatomical structure morphogenesis| |immune effector process| |negative regulation of protein metabolic process| |cytoskeleton organization| |negative regulation of molecular function| |positive regulation of immune system process| |regulation of immune response| |positive regulation of cellular component organization| |phosphorylation| |regulation of organelle organization| |positive regulation of developmental process| |ATP binding| |generation of neurons| |neurogenesis| |regulation of immune system process| |intracellular signal transduction| |positive regulation of multicellular organismal process| |regulation of cell differentiation| |regulation of protein modification process| |vesicle-mediated transport| |membrane| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp177|Apcin 25μM plus proTAME 2μM R04 exp177]]|-1.78| |[[:results:exp316|Geldanamycin 0.015 to 0.025μM on day4 R07 exp316]]|1.81| |[[:results:exp537|WNT3A 44ng/ml R08 exp537]]|1.9| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
