Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes a preproprotein that is proteolytically processed to generate a regulatory propeptide and the mature enzyme. The copper-dependent amine oxidase activity of this enzyme functions in the crosslinking of collagens and elastin, while the propeptide may play a role in tumor suppression. In addition, defects in this gene have been linked with predisposition to thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016]. * **UniProt Summary**: Responsible for the post-translational oxidative deamination of peptidyl lysine residues in precursors to fibrous collagen and elastin (PubMed:26838787). Regulator of Ras expression. May play a role in tumor suppression. Plays a role in the aortic wall architecture (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P28301, ECO:0000269|PubMed:26838787}. |Lysyl oxidase| |descending aorta development| |peptidyl-lysine oxidation| |ascending aorta development| |protein-lysine 6-oxidase activity| |platelet-derived growth factor receptor-beta signaling pathway| |regulation of platelet-derived growth factor receptor-beta signaling pathway| |elastic fiber assembly| |protein oxidation| |extracellular matrix assembly| |muscle cell cellular homeostasis| |regulation of bone development| |regulation of platelet-derived growth factor receptor signaling pathway| |regulation of receptor binding| |platelet-derived growth factor receptor signaling pathway| |protein kinase B signaling| |collagen fibril organization| |bone mineralization| |aorta development| |regulation of megakaryocyte differentiation| |copper ion binding| |muscle fiber development| |collagen trimer| |artery development| |cellular response to chemokine| |response to chemokine| |biomineralization| |biomineral tissue development| |DNA biosynthetic process| |regulation of transforming growth factor beta receptor signaling pathway| |regulation of cellular response to transforming growth factor beta stimulus| |osteoblast differentiation| |regulation of striated muscle tissue development| |regulation of muscle tissue development| |striated muscle cell development| |regulation of muscle organ development| |muscle cell development| |lung development| |respiratory tube development| |respiratory system development| |striated muscle cell differentiation| |cell chemotaxis| |regulation of protein binding| |connective tissue development| |regulation of myeloid cell differentiation| |extracellular matrix| |regulation of transmembrane receptor protein serine/threonine kinase signaling pathway| |muscle cell differentiation| |ossification| |regulation of cellular response to growth factor stimulus| |peptidyl-lysine modification| |response to steroid hormone| |extracellular matrix organization| |anatomical structure homeostasis| |regulation of binding| |extracellular structure organization| |blood vessel morphogenesis| |regulation of hemopoiesis| |supramolecular fiber organization| |muscle structure development| |wound healing| |blood vessel development| |vasculature development| |transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine kinase signaling pathway| |cardiovascular system development| |heart development| |chemotaxis| |taxis| |response to wounding| |tube morphogenesis| |enzyme linked receptor protein signaling pathway| |DNA metabolic process| |tube development| |response to lipid| |circulatory system development| |peptidyl-amino acid modification| |cellular homeostasis| |response to hormone| |response to organic cyclic compound| |oxidation-reduction process| |cell migration| |cellular response to cytokine stimulus| |response to drug| |localization of cell| |cell motility| |nucleobase-containing compound biosynthetic process| |response to cytokine| |heterocycle biosynthetic process| |aromatic compound biosynthetic process| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |locomotion| |regulation of protein phosphorylation| |response to endogenous stimulus| |regulation of apoptotic process| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |regulation of programmed cell death| |regulation of phosphorylation| |extracellular space| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |homeostatic process| |cell development| |regulation of immune system process| |regulation of cell death| |intracellular signal transduction| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |tissue development| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |regulation of cell differentiation| |regulation of protein modification process| |protein-containing complex subunit organization| |extracellular region| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp423|Zebularine 20μM R07 exp423]]|1.72| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
