The encoded protein can inhibit cAMP accumulation and stimulate intracellular calcium flux, and is probably involved in the neuronal regulation of food consumption. Although structurally similar to somatostatin receptors, this protein does not seem to bind somatostatin. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Receptor for melanin-concentrating hormone, coupled to both G proteins that inhibit adenylyl cyclase and G proteins that activate phosphoinositide hydrolysis. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10421367}. |7TM GPCR Srsx| |7tm 1| |melanin-concentrating hormone receptor activity| |hormone binding| |neuropeptide receptor activity| |neuropeptide binding| |non-motile cilium| |peptide binding| |ciliary membrane| |adenylate cyclase-inhibiting G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |feeding behavior| |neuropeptide signaling pathway| |positive regulation of calcium ion transport| |protein C-terminus binding| |cilium| |adenylate cyclase-modulating G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway, coupled to cyclic nucleotide second messenger| |regulation of calcium ion transport| |positive regulation of ion transport| |positive regulation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration| |regulation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration| |signaling receptor binding| |regulation of metal ion transport| |generation of precursor metabolites and energy| |cellular calcium ion homeostasis| |calcium ion homeostasis| |cellular divalent inorganic cation homeostasis| |divalent inorganic cation homeostasis| |cellular metal ion homeostasis| |behavior| |metal ion homeostasis| |cellular cation homeostasis| |cellular ion homeostasis| |regulation of ion transport| |cation homeostasis| |inorganic ion homeostasis| |G protein-coupled receptor activity| |cellular chemical homeostasis| |ion homeostasis| |cellular homeostasis| |positive regulation of transport| |chemical homeostasis| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |integral component of plasma membrane| |homeostatic process| |regulation of transport| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp505|ML-792 0.2μM R08 exp505]]|1.81| |[[:results:exp354|Diepoxybutane 3μM R07 exp354]]|1.99| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
