The protein encoded by this gene is a MCM3 binding protein. It was reported to have phosphorylation-dependent DNA-primase activity, which was up-regulated in antigen immunization induced germinal center. This protein was demonstrated to be an acetyltransferase that acetylates MCM3 and plays a role in DNA replication. The mutagenesis of a nuclear localization signal of MCM3 affects the binding of this protein with MCM3, suggesting that this protein may also facilitate MCM3 nuclear localization. This gene is expressed in the brain or in neuronal tissue. An allelic variant encoding amino acid Lys at 915, instead of conserved Glu, has been identified in patients with mild intellectual disability. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2014]. * **UniProt Summary**: Isoform GANP: Essential for the generation of high- affinity B-cells against T-cell-dependent antigens by affecting somatic hypermutation at the IgV-regions. May have stimulation- dependent DNA primase activity that would generate extra RNA primers in very rapidely proliferating cells and would support clonal expansion of differentiating B-cells (By similarity). Involved in the nuclear export of poly(A)-containing mRNAs by acting as a scaffold for the TREX-2 complex. The TREX-2 complex functions in docking export-competent ribonucleoprotein particles (mRNPs) to the nuclear entrance of the nuclear pore complex (nuclear basket). TREX-2 participates in mRNA export and accurate chromatin positioning in the nucleus by tethering genes to the nuclear periphery. {ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:22307388}. |SAC3 GANP| |H3 histone acetyltransferase activity| |transcription export complex 2| |nuclear pore nuclear basket| |somatic hypermutation of immunoglobulin genes| |poly(A)+ mRNA export from nucleus| |somatic diversification of immune receptors via somatic mutation| |somatic diversification of immunoglobulins| |histone H3 acetylation| |histone acetyltransferase activity| |somatic diversification of immune receptors| |mRNA-containing ribonucleoprotein complex export from nucleus| |mRNA export from nucleus| |histone acetylation| |internal peptidyl-lysine acetylation| |peptidyl-lysine acetylation| |internal protein amino acid acetylation| |chromosome| |ribonucleoprotein complex export from nucleus| |ribonucleoprotein complex localization| |RNA export from nucleus| |histone binding| |protein acetylation| |protein export from nucleus| |mRNA transport| |immunoglobulin production| |nucleosome organization| |nuclear export| |production of molecular mediator of immune response| |protein acylation| |RNA transport| |nucleic acid transport| |nucleic acid binding| |establishment of RNA localization| |RNA localization| |nuclear membrane| |nucleobase-containing compound transport| |protein-DNA complex subunit organization| |protein-containing complex localization| |nucleocytoplasmic transport| |nuclear transport| |peptidyl-lysine modification| |histone modification| |covalent chromatin modification| |chromatin binding| |immune system development| |chromatin organization| |peptidyl-amino acid modification| |intracellular protein transport| |chromosome organization| |protein transport| |intracellular transport| |peptide transport| |amide transport| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |establishment of protein localization| |establishment of localization in cell| |nitrogen compound transport| |protein-containing complex subunit organization| |gene expression| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |KU-0063794 3.8μM R02 exp71|-1.8| |ABT-702 5μM R07 exp318|1.74| |BRD2 inhibitor II 20μM R07 exp341|1.8| ^Gene^Correlation^ |BCL2L1|0.426| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 373/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|1/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|16/28| |blood|20/28| |bone|10/26| |breast|18/33| |central nervous system|24/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|13/17| |esophagus|7/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|9/16| |kidney|9/21| |liver|14/20| |lung|35/75| |lymphocyte|6/16| |ovary|13/26| |pancreas|12/24| |peripheral nervous system|12/16| |plasma cell|7/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|12/24| |soft tissue|5/9| |thyroid|2/2| |upper aerodigestive|12/22| |urinary tract|13/29| |uterus|4/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 1427 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 7.51
