The encoded protein acts as a dominant-negative regulator of transcription which is mediated by the retinoic acid receptor. This protein also functions as an anti-testis gene by acting antagonistically to Sry. Mutations in this gene result in both X-linked congenital adrenal hypoplasia and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Orphan nuclear receptor. Component of a cascade required for the development of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal-gonadal axis. Acts as a coregulatory protein that inhibits the transcriptional activity of other nuclear receptors through heterodimeric interactions. May also have a role in the development of the embryo and in the maintenance of embryonic stem cell pluripotency (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}. |Hormone recep| |DNA hairpin binding| |steroid hormone receptor binding| |Leydig cell differentiation| |male sex determination| |Sertoli cell differentiation| |hypothalamus development| |sex determination| |adrenal gland development| |response to immobilization stress| |polysomal ribosome| |negative regulation of intracellular steroid hormone receptor signaling pathway| |pituitary gland development| |nuclear receptor activity| |steroid hormone receptor activity| |diencephalon development| |regulation of intracellular steroid hormone receptor signaling pathway| |limbic system development| |steroid hormone mediated signaling pathway| |endocrine system development| |steroid biosynthetic process| |male gonad development| |development of primary male sexual characteristics| |male sex differentiation| |microtubule organizing center| |negative regulation of DNA-binding transcription factor activity| |intracellular receptor signaling pathway| |hormone-mediated signaling pathway| |transcription initiation from RNA polymerase II promoter| |cellular response to steroid hormone stimulus| |gonad development| |DNA-templated transcription, initiation| |development of primary sexual characteristics| |transcription corepressor activity| |protein domain specific binding| |steroid metabolic process| |sex differentiation| |response to steroid hormone| |transcription factor binding| |forebrain development| |nuclear speck| |gland development| |sequence-specific DNA binding| |reproductive structure development| |regulation of DNA-binding transcription factor activity| |reproductive system development| |transcription by RNA polymerase II| |cellular response to lipid| |cellular response to organic cyclic compound| |spermatogenesis| |male gamete generation| |lipid biosynthetic process| |cellular response to hormone stimulus| |transcription, DNA-templated| |nucleic acid-templated transcription| |RNA biosynthetic process| |developmental process involved in reproduction| |epithelial cell differentiation| |intracellular membrane-bounded organelle| |gamete generation| |brain development| |head development| |multicellular organismal reproductive process| |sexual reproduction| |multicellular organism reproduction| |response to lipid| |negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |protein homodimerization activity| |response to hormone| |response to organic cyclic compound| |central nervous system development| |multi-organism reproductive process| |nucleobase-containing compound biosynthetic process| |epithelium development| |negative regulation of molecular function| |heterocycle biosynthetic process| |aromatic compound biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |lipid metabolic process| |cellular response to endogenous stimulus| |negative regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |negative regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of signal transduction| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of RNA metabolic process| |negative regulation of cell communication| |negative regulation of signaling| |negative regulation of cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |RNA binding| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |negative regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |DNA binding| |negative regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |response to endogenous stimulus| |negative regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of biosynthetic process| |DNA-binding transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |negative regulation of response to stimulus| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |RNA metabolic process| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of gene expression| |tissue development| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |membrane| |gene expression| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found. ^Gene^Correlation^ |[[:human genes:r:rrm1|RRM1]]|0.408| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/694 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/26| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/30| |central nervous system|0/49| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/11| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/14| |kidney|0/18| |liver|0/19| |lung|0/72| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/25| |pancreas|0/22| |peripheral nervous system|0/15| |plasma cell|0/12| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/20| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/28| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 17317 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: -7.68 {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}}
