There are several PGM isozymes, which are encoded by different genes and catalyze the transfer of phosphate between the 1 and 6 positions of glucose. In most cell types, this PGM isozyme is predominant, representing about 90% of total PGM activity. In red cells, PGM2 is a major isozyme. This gene is highly polymorphic. Mutations in this gene cause glycogen storage disease type 14. Alternativley spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified in this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]. * **UniProt Summary**: N/A |PGM PMM I| |PGM PMM II| |PGM PMM IV| |PGM PMM III| |phosphoglucomutase activity| |galactose catabolic process| |galactose metabolic process| |glycogen catabolic process| |glucan catabolic process| |glucan biosynthetic process| |glycogen biosynthetic process| |cellular polysaccharide catabolic process| |polysaccharide catabolic process| |cellular carbohydrate catabolic process| |glycolytic process| |ATP generation from ADP| |polysaccharide biosynthetic process| |gluconeogenesis| |cellular polysaccharide biosynthetic process| |hexose biosynthetic process| |glycogen metabolic process| |glucan metabolic process| |ADP metabolic process| |cellular glucan metabolic process| |hexose catabolic process| |monosaccharide biosynthetic process| |tertiary granule lumen| |cellular carbohydrate biosynthetic process| |nucleoside diphosphate phosphorylation| |monosaccharide catabolic process| |purine nucleoside diphosphate metabolic process| |nucleotide phosphorylation| |purine ribonucleoside diphosphate metabolic process| |energy reserve metabolic process| |ribonucleoside diphosphate metabolic process| |pyruvate metabolic process| |cellular polysaccharide metabolic process| |polysaccharide metabolic process| |nucleoside diphosphate metabolic process| |glucose metabolic process| |carbohydrate catabolic process| |ficolin-1-rich granule lumen| |carbohydrate biosynthetic process| |hexose metabolic process| |cellular carbohydrate metabolic process| |monosaccharide metabolic process| |ATP metabolic process| |magnesium ion binding| |actin cytoskeleton| |energy derivation by oxidation of organic compounds| |purine ribonucleotide metabolic process| |ribonucleotide metabolic process| |purine nucleotide metabolic process| |ribose phosphate metabolic process| |purine-containing compound metabolic process| |generation of precursor metabolites and energy| |small molecule catabolic process| |nucleotide metabolic process| |nucleoside phosphate metabolic process| |carbohydrate metabolic process| |neutrophil degranulation| |neutrophil activation involved in immune response| |neutrophil mediated immunity| |neutrophil activation| |granulocyte activation| |leukocyte degranulation| |myeloid leukocyte mediated immunity| |myeloid cell activation involved in immune response| |monocarboxylic acid metabolic process| |nucleobase-containing small molecule metabolic process| |myeloid leukocyte activation| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |leukocyte activation involved in immune response| |cell activation involved in immune response| |regulated exocytosis| |leukocyte mediated immunity| |exocytosis| |organophosphate metabolic process| |carboxylic acid metabolic process| |leukocyte activation| |oxidation-reduction process| |oxoacid metabolic process| |secretion by cell| |organic acid metabolic process| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |export from cell| |macromolecule catabolic process| |cell activation| |immune effector process| |secretion| |phosphorylation| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |small molecule metabolic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |organic substance catabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| |immune response| |extracellular region| |vesicle-mediated transport| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp94|Nocodazole 0.1μM R03 exp94]]|1.76| |[[:results:exp113|1-Methyl-nicotinamide-chloride 1000μM R03 exp113]]|1.9| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
