This occurs in the endoplasmic reticulum and is a step in the biosynthesis of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI), which anchors many cell surface proteins to the membrane. Defects in this gene are a cause of the age-dependent epileptic encephalopathy West syndrome as well as a syndrome exhibiting hyperphosphatasia and cognitive disability (HPMRS5). [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2017]. * **UniProt Summary**: Required for the transport of GPI-anchored proteins to the plasma membrane (PubMed:24367057). Probable acetyltransferase, which acetylates the inositol ring of phosphatidylinositol during biosynthesis of GPI-anchor. Acetylation during GPI-anchor biosynthesis is not essential for the subsequent mannosylation and is usually removed soon after the attachment of GPIs to proteins (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q7TSN4, ECO:0000269|PubMed:24367057}. |GWT1| |glucosaminyl-phosphatidylinositol O-acyltransferase activity| |O-acyltransferase activity| |preassembly of GPI anchor in ER membrane| |GPI anchor biosynthetic process| |GPI anchor metabolic process| |glycolipid biosynthetic process| |protein lipidation| |lipoprotein biosynthetic process| |glycolipid metabolic process| |phosphatidylinositol biosynthetic process| |liposaccharide metabolic process| |lipoprotein metabolic process| |membrane lipid biosynthetic process| |phosphatidylinositol metabolic process| |protein localization to plasma membrane| |membrane lipid metabolic process| |glycerophospholipid biosynthetic process| |glycerolipid biosynthetic process| |protein localization to cell periphery| |phospholipid biosynthetic process| |glycerophospholipid metabolic process| |phospholipid metabolic process| |glycerolipid metabolic process| |protein localization to membrane| |organophosphate biosynthetic process| |lipid biosynthetic process| |carbohydrate derivative biosynthetic process| |organophosphate metabolic process| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |cellular lipid metabolic process| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |lipid metabolic process| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp536|Vitamin-D3 40μM R08 exp536]]|-1.86| |[[:results:exp52|Ribavirin 10μM R01 exp52]]|-1.79| |[[:results:exp155|UNC1999 2μM R03 exp155]]|1.85| |[[:results:exp16|DABN 2μM R00 exp16]]|2.15| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
