It binds preferentially to the single strand of the purine-rich element termed PUR, which is present at origins of replication and in gene flanking regions in a variety of eukaryotes from yeasts through humans. Thus, it is implicated in the control of both DNA replication and transcription. Deletion of this gene has been associated with myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myelogenous leukemia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: This is a probable transcription activator that specifically binds the purine-rich single strand of the PUR element located upstream of the MYC gene. May play a role in the initiation of DNA replication and in recombination. |PurA| |dendritic transport of ribonucleoprotein complex| |dendritic transport of messenger ribonucleoprotein complex| |purine-rich negative regulatory element binding| |dendritic transport| |double-stranded telomeric DNA binding| |axo-dendritic protein transport| |DNA unwinding involved in DNA replication| |DNA replication factor A complex| |translation repressor activity, mRNA regulatory element binding| |dendrite cytoplasm| |DNA replication initiation| |SMAD binding| |axo-dendritic transport| |protein transport along microtubule| |microtubule-based protein transport| |postsynapse| |lymphocyte proliferation| |mononuclear cell proliferation| |epithelial cell proliferation| |leukocyte proliferation| |double-stranded DNA binding| |single-stranded DNA binding| |nuclear chromosome, telomeric region| |DNA duplex unwinding| |DNA geometric change| |DNA-dependent DNA replication| |negative regulation of translation| |negative regulation of cellular amide metabolic process| |transport along microtubule| |cytoskeleton-dependent intracellular transport| |microtubule-based transport| |nucleic acid transport| |RNA transport| |establishment of RNA localization| |DNA replication| |RNA localization| |nucleobase-containing compound transport| |DNA-binding transcription repressor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |protein-containing complex localization| |microtubule-based movement| |DNA conformation change| |RNA polymerase II regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding| |transcription factor binding| |glutamatergic synapse| |regulation of translation| |neuronal cell body| |lymphocyte activation| |regulation of cellular amide metabolic process| |sequence-specific DNA binding| |posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression| |cell population proliferation| |microtubule-based process| |DNA metabolic process| |negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |positive regulation of cell population proliferation| |leukocyte activation| |intracellular protein transport| |negative regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |chromosome organization| |cell activation| |negative regulation of protein metabolic process| |negative regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |negative regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |negative regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of RNA metabolic process| |negative regulation of cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |RNA binding| |negative regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |negative regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |protein transport| |negative regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |intracellular transport| |peptide transport| |negative regulation of biosynthetic process| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |DNA-binding transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |amide transport| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |establishment of protein localization| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of gene expression| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |establishment of localization in cell| |nitrogen compound transport| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
