In yeast, 2 related COX assembly genes, SCO1 and SCO2 (synthesis of cytochrome c oxidase), enable subunits 1 and 2 to be incorporated into the holoprotein. This gene is the human homolog to the yeast SCO1 gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Thought to play a role in cellular copper homeostasis, mitochondrial redox signaling or insertion of copper into the active site of MT-CO2/COX2. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15659396, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16735468, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17189203}. |SCO1-SenC| |host cell mitochondrial intermembrane space| |cellular copper ion homeostasis| |copper ion transport| |copper ion homeostasis| |mitochondrial respiratory chain complex IV assembly| |respiratory chain complex IV assembly| |myofibril| |cytochrome complex assembly| |integral component of mitochondrial inner membrane| |copper ion binding| |negative regulation of proteasomal protein catabolic process| |negative regulation of proteolysis involved in cellular protein catabolic process| |negative regulation of cellular protein catabolic process| |mitochondrial respiratory chain complex assembly| |cellular transition metal ion homeostasis| |transition metal ion transport| |transition metal ion homeostasis| |negative regulation of protein catabolic process| |regulation of proteasomal protein catabolic process| |regulation of proteolysis involved in cellular protein catabolic process| |regulation of cellular protein catabolic process| |negative regulation of cellular catabolic process| |negative regulation of catabolic process| |negative regulation of proteolysis| |regulation of protein catabolic process| |mitochondrial inner membrane| |mitochondrion organization| |cellular metal ion homeostasis| |metal ion homeostasis| |cellular cation homeostasis| |metal ion transport| |cellular ion homeostasis| |cation homeostasis| |inorganic ion homeostasis| |regulation of proteolysis| |cellular chemical homeostasis| |ion homeostasis| |cation transport| |regulation of cellular catabolic process| |cellular protein-containing complex assembly| |cellular homeostasis| |regulation of catabolic process| |negative regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |negative regulation of protein metabolic process| |chemical homeostasis| |mitochondrion| |ion transport| |protein-containing complex assembly| |homeostatic process| |protein-containing complex subunit organization| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |SGC2043 10μM R03 exp152|-1.81| |CB-839 10μM R05 exp224|1.75| |LLY-283 2.6μM R06 exp290|1.86| |UM0129480 7μM R02 exp85|2.18| |Clomiphene 4.4μM R02 exp68|2.2| |UM0125461 0.74μM R02 exp84|2.6| ^Gene^Correlation^ |PET117|0.5| |SELRC1|0.471| |COA3|0.471| |GFM2|0.468| |LARS2|0.453| |MRPS27|0.45| |HSD17B10|0.448| |COX16|0.443| |TFB1M|0.443| |MRPS26|0.442| |METTL17|0.442| |QRSL1|0.436| |AIFM1|0.436| |NARS2|0.434| |MRP63|0.433| |MRPL45|0.431| |SCO2|0.431| |MRPS16|0.427| |MRPS25|0.427| |DARS2|0.423| |COX19|0.423| |MRPS6|0.423| |MRPL53|0.422| |COA6|0.421| |PET112|0.419| |COX11|0.41| |HARS2|0.409| |GFM1|0.408| |AARS2|0.407| |MTRF1L|0.402| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 7/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|1/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|2/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|1/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|1/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|1/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|1/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 2431 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 6.86
