DGC forms a link between the F-actin cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix. This protein is expressed most abundantly in skeletal and cardiac muscle. Mutations in this gene have been associated with autosomal recessive limb-girdle muscular dystrophy and dilated cardiomyopathy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Component of the sarcoglycan complex, a subcomplex of the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex which forms a link between the F-actin cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix. |Sarcoglycan 1| |sarcoglycan complex| |coronary vasculature morphogenesis| |dystrophin-associated glycoprotein complex| |cardiac muscle fiber development| |cellular protein-containing complex localization| |cardiac muscle cell contraction| |sarcoplasmic reticulum| |coronary vasculature development| |muscle fiber development| |cardiac muscle cell development| |cardiac cell development| |cardiac muscle contraction| |heart contraction| |cardiac muscle cell differentiation| |actin-mediated cell contraction| |sarcolemma| |heart process| |striated muscle contraction| |actin filament-based movement| |cardiocyte differentiation| |striated muscle cell development| |calcium-mediated signaling| |muscle cell development| |cardiac muscle tissue development| |striated muscle cell differentiation| |muscle cell differentiation| |muscle contraction| |protein-containing complex localization| |striated muscle tissue development| |muscle organ development| |muscle tissue development| |muscle system process| |second-messenger-mediated signaling| |cytoskeleton| |blood circulation| |circulatory system process| |blood vessel morphogenesis| |calcium ion homeostasis| |muscle structure development| |blood vessel development| |divalent inorganic cation homeostasis| |vasculature development| |cardiovascular system development| |heart development| |actin filament-based process| |metal ion homeostasis| |tube morphogenesis| |cation homeostasis| |inorganic ion homeostasis| |ion homeostasis| |tube development| |circulatory system development| |cell death| |chemical homeostasis| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |homeostatic process| |cell development| |intracellular signal transduction| |tissue development| |system process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp423|Zebularine 20μM R07 exp423]]|1.7| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
