Sequence variation between this novel gene and known carbohydrate kinases suggests the possibility of a different substrate, cofactor or changes in kinetic properties distinguishing it from other carbohydrate kinases. The gene resides in a region commonly deleted in cystinosis patients, suggesting a role as a modifier for the cystinosis phenotype. The genomic region is also rich in Alu repetitive sequences, frequently involved in chromosomal rearrangements. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Acts as a modulator of macrophage activation through control of glucose metabolism. {ECO:0000250}. |FGGY N| |sedoheptulokinase activity| |cellular response to interleukin-13| |response to interleukin-13| |pentose-phosphate shunt, non-oxidative branch| |pentose-phosphate shunt| |NADPH regeneration| |glucose 6-phosphate metabolic process| |NADP metabolic process| |cellular response to interleukin-4| |response to interleukin-4| |regulation of macrophage activation| |cellular response to lipopolysaccharide| |cellular response to molecule of bacterial origin| |cellular response to biotic stimulus| |response to lipopolysaccharide| |response to molecule of bacterial origin| |regulation of inflammatory response| |generation of precursor metabolites and energy| |carbohydrate metabolic process| |cellular response to lipid| |regulation of leukocyte activation| |regulation of cell activation| |response to bacterium| |regulation of defense response| |response to lipid| |organophosphate metabolic process| |oxidation-reduction process| |cellular response to cytokine stimulus| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |cellular response to oxygen-containing compound| |regulation of response to external stimulus| |response to cytokine| |phosphorylation| |response to other organism| |response to external biotic stimulus| |response to biotic stimulus| |regulation of response to stress| |ATP binding| |response to oxygen-containing compound| |regulation of immune system process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Hypoxia 5%O2 R04 exp191|1.86| ^Gene^Correlation^ |MADCAM1|0.447| |TERF2|0.432| |TFIP11|0.427| |RPL37A|0.422| |GAR1|0.42| |TCEB3CL2|0.417| |TCEB3C|0.416| |USP36|0.416| |S1PR4|0.411| |RPS19BP1|0.411| |ANKLE1|0.41| |VASN|0.407| |TCEB3CL|0.406| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 1/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 2597 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 3.99
