Probably acts as an amino acid sensor of the Rag GTPases and Ragulator complexes, 2 complexes involved in amino acid sensing and activation of mTORC1, a signaling complex promoting cell growth in response to growth factors, energy levels, and amino acids (PubMed:25561175, PubMed:25567906). Following activation by amino acids, the Ragulator and Rag GTPases function as a scaffold recruiting mTORC1 to lysosomes where it is in turn activated. SLC38A9 mediates transport of amino acids with low capacity and specificity with a slight preference for polar amino acids, suggesting that it acts as an amino acid sensor instead (PubMed:25561175, PubMed:25567906). The high concentration of arginine in lysosomes suggests that it acts as an arginine sensor (PubMed:25567906). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:25561175, ECO:0000269|PubMed:25567906}. |Aa trans| |L-arginine transmembrane transporter activity| |L-leucine transmembrane transporter activity| |integral component of lysosomal membrane| |L-arginine transmembrane transport| |arginine transmembrane transport| |branched-chain amino acid transport| |L-arginine transport| |Ragulator complex| |arginine transport| |basic amino acid transmembrane transport| |basic amino acid transport| |amino acid transmembrane transporter activity| |neutral amino acid transport| |positive regulation of TOR signaling| |L-alpha-amino acid transmembrane transport| |L-amino acid transport| |cellular response to amino acid stimulus| |drug transmembrane transport| |amino acid transmembrane transport| |regulation of TOR signaling| |response to amino acid| |amino acid transport| |late endosome| |organic acid transmembrane transport| |carboxylic acid transmembrane transport| |cell cycle arrest| |drug transport| |regulation of macroautophagy| |cellular response to acid chemical| |lysosome| |anion transmembrane transport| |carboxylic acid transport| |organic acid transport| |lysosomal membrane| |regulation of autophagy| |response to acid chemical| |organic anion transport| |negative regulation of cell cycle| |anion transport| |cellular response to organonitrogen compound| |cation transmembrane transport| |cellular response to nitrogen compound| |intracellular membrane-bounded organelle| |cation transport| |regulation of cellular catabolic process| |ion transmembrane transport| |regulation of catabolic process| |cell cycle process| |response to organonitrogen compound| |response to drug| |positive regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |cellular response to oxygen-containing compound| |response to nitrogen compound| |regulation of cell cycle| |cellular response to endogenous stimulus| |transmembrane transport| |cell cycle| |ion transport| |response to endogenous stimulus| |response to oxygen-containing compound| |positive regulation of signal transduction| |positive regulation of cell communication| |positive regulation of signaling| |regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |nitrogen compound transport| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp355|Dinaciclib 0.007μM R07 exp355]]|-1.8| |[[:results:exp85|UM0129480 7μM R02 exp85]]|2.16| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
