This protein alkylation leads to crosslinking of proteins and catenation of polyamines to proteins. This gene contains either one or two copies of a 22 nt repeat unit in its 3' UTR. Mutations in this gene have been associated with autosomal recessive lamellar ichthyosis (LI) and nonbullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma (NCIE). [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Catalyzes the cross-linking of proteins and the conjugation of polyamines to proteins. Responsible for cross- linking epidermal proteins during formation of the stratum corneum. Involved in cell proliferation (PubMed:26220141). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:26220141}. |Transglut C| |Transglut core| |Transglut N| |external encapsulating structure organization| |cell envelope organization| |protein-glutamine gamma-glutamyltransferase activity| |positive regulation of keratinocyte proliferation| |intrinsic component of membrane| |regulation of keratinocyte proliferation| |peptide cross-linking| |cornified envelope| |cornification| |positive regulation of epithelial cell proliferation| |keratinization| |keratinocyte differentiation| |epidermal cell differentiation| |regulation of epithelial cell proliferation| |positive regulation of cell cycle| |skin development| |epidermis development| |epithelial cell differentiation| |positive regulation of cell population proliferation| |programmed cell death| |cell death| |epithelium development| |regulation of cell cycle| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |tissue development| |membrane| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp41|BI-2536 0.001μM R01 exp41]]|-1.98| |[[:results:exp374|Latrunculin-B 10μM R07 exp374]]|-1.71| |[[:results:exp142|OICR-9429 10μM R03 exp142]]|2.16| |[[:results:exp115|A-366 10μM R03 exp115]]|2.52| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
