It has high sequence homology to human MLLT1, and yeast and human MLLT3 proteins. Both MLLT1 and MLLT3 proteins belong to a class of transcription factors, indicating that the encoded protein might also represent a transcription factor. This protein is thought to be required for RNA transcription. This gene has been shown to be amplified in tumors. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]. * **UniProt Summary**: Component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase (HAT) complex which is involved in transcriptional activation of select genes principally by acetylation of nucleosomal histones H4 and H2A. This modification may both alter nucleosome - DNA interactions and promote interaction of the modified histones with other proteins which positively regulate transcription. This complex may be required for the activation of transcriptional programs associated with oncogene and proto-oncogene mediated growth induction, tumor suppressor mediated growth arrest and replicative senescence, apoptosis, and DNA repair. NuA4 may also play a direct role in DNA repair when recruited to sites of DNA damage. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:14966270}. |YEATS| |histone H2A acetylation| |NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex| |histone H4 acetylation| |structural constituent of cytoskeleton| |nuclear matrix| |histone acetylation| |internal peptidyl-lysine acetylation| |peptidyl-lysine acetylation| |internal protein amino acid acetylation| |protein acetylation| |protein acylation| |protein C-terminus binding| |nuclear membrane| |peptidyl-lysine modification| |histone modification| |covalent chromatin modification| |regulation of growth| |DNA-binding transcription factor activity| |mitotic cell cycle| |chromatin organization| |peptidyl-amino acid modification| |chromosome organization| |cytoskeleton organization| |positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |cell cycle| |DNA binding| |positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |positive regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |positive regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of RNA metabolic process| |positive regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |positive regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of gene expression| |positive regulation of biosynthetic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp489|Hippuristanol 0.12μM R08 exp489 no dilution day6]]|2.07| |[[:results:exp2|5-Fluorouracil 20μM R00 exp2]]|2.21| |[[:results:exp3|Actinomycin-D 0.001μM R00 exp3]]|2.68| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
