ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven distinct subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). This protein is a member of the OABP subfamily. Alternatively referred to as the RNase L inhibitor, this protein functions to block the activity of ribonuclease L. Activation of ribonuclease L leads to inhibition of protein synthesis in the 2-5A/RNase L system, the central pathway for viral interferon action. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Antagonizes the binding of 2-5A (5'-phosphorylated 2',5'-linked oligoadenylates) by RNase L through direct interaction with RNase L and therefore inhibits its endoribonuclease activity. May play a central role in the regulation of mRNA turnover. Antagonizes the anti-viral effect of the interferon-regulated 2-5A/RNase L pathway. May act as a chaperone for post-translational events during HIV-1 capsid assembly. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11585831, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9660177, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9847332}. |ABC tran| |Fer4| |RLI| |endoribonuclease inhibitor activity| |negative regulation of endoribonuclease activity| |negative regulation of ribonuclease activity| |regulation of endoribonuclease activity| |negative regulation of nuclease activity| |regulation of ribonuclease activity| |ribosomal subunit export from nucleus| |ribosome localization| |rRNA-containing ribonucleoprotein complex export from nucleus| |ribosomal small subunit binding| |regulation of nuclease activity| |regulation of type I interferon-mediated signaling pathway| |translational termination| |ribonucleoprotein complex export from nucleus| |ribonucleoprotein complex localization| |RNA export from nucleus| |iron ion binding| |cellular protein complex disassembly| |translational initiation| |protein export from nucleus| |nuclear export| |regulation of cytokine-mediated signaling pathway| |regulation of response to cytokine stimulus| |RNA transport| |defense response to virus| |nucleic acid transport| |establishment of RNA localization| |RNA localization| |ATPase activity| |nucleobase-containing compound transport| |protein-containing complex disassembly| |protein-containing complex localization| |nucleocytoplasmic transport| |nuclear transport| |response to virus| |ribosome biogenesis| |establishment of organelle localization| |mitochondrial matrix| |translation| |cellular component disassembly| |peptide biosynthetic process| |regulation of innate immune response| |negative regulation of hydrolase activity| |ribonucleoprotein complex biogenesis| |regulation of response to biotic stimulus| |amide biosynthetic process| |peptide metabolic process| |organelle localization| |viral process| |regulation of defense response| |regulation of multi-organism process| |symbiotic process| |cellular amide metabolic process| |negative regulation of catalytic activity| |interspecies interaction between organisms| |defense response to other organism| |intracellular protein transport| |immune effector process| |regulation of response to external stimulus| |negative regulation of molecular function| |regulation of immune response| |mitochondrion| |regulation of hydrolase activity| |response to other organism| |response to external biotic stimulus| |response to biotic stimulus| |negative regulation of RNA metabolic process| |defense response| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |regulation of response to stress| |ATP binding| |protein transport| |intracellular transport| |peptide transport| |amide transport| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |establishment of protein localization| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |regulation of immune system process| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |establishment of localization in cell| |nitrogen compound transport| |protein-containing complex subunit organization| |membrane| |gene expression| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Cerivastatin 0.15μM R05 exp226|-1.78| |2-Methoxyestradiol 0.55 to 0.75μM on day4 R07 exp311|-1.74| |Nocodazole 0.2μM R02 exp64|2.05| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
