The receptor encoded by this gene mediates a sustained cardioprotective function during cardiac ischemia, it is involved in the inhibition of neutrophil degranulation in neutrophil-mediated tissue injury, it has been implicated in both neuroprotective and neurodegenerative effects, and it may also mediate both cell proliferation and cell death. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. This gene shares its 5' terminal exon with some transcripts from overlapping GeneID:57413, which encodes an immunoglobulin domain-containing protein. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]. * **UniProt Summary**: Isoform 2: Receptor for adenosine. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which inhibits adenylyl cyclase (PubMed:8234299). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:8234299}. |7TM GPCR Srsx| |7tm 1| |G protein-coupled adenosine receptor activity| |adenosine receptor signaling pathway| |G protein-coupled purinergic receptor signaling pathway| |purinergic receptor signaling pathway| |activation of adenylate cyclase activity| |negative regulation of NF-kappaB transcription factor activity| |negative regulation of DNA-binding transcription factor activity| |regulation of heart contraction| |negative regulation of cell migration| |negative regulation of cell motility| |regulation of blood circulation| |negative regulation of cellular component movement| |negative regulation of locomotion| |regulation of DNA-binding transcription factor activity| |inflammatory response| |response to wounding| |regulation of system process| |negative regulation of cell population proliferation| |regulation of cell migration| |regulation of cell motility| |regulation of locomotion| |regulation of cellular component movement| |negative regulation of molecular function| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |defense response| |integral component of plasma membrane| |regulation of cell population proliferation| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp451|Atovaquone 15μM R08 exp451]]|-1.98| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
