The acetyl amino acid formed by this hydrolase is further processed to acetate and a free amino acid by an aminoacylase. This gene is located within the same region of chromosome 3 (3p21) as the aminoacylase gene, and deletions at this locus are also associated with a decrease in aminoacylase activity. The acylpeptide hydrolase is a homotetrameric protein of 300 kDa with each subunit consisting of 732 amino acid residues. It can play an important role in destroying oxidatively damaged proteins in living cells. Deletions of this gene locus are found in various types of carcinomas, including small cell lung carcinoma and renal cell carcinoma. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: This enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of the N-terminal peptide bond of an N-acetylated peptide to generate an N- acetylated amino acid and a peptide with a free N-terminus. It preferentially cleaves off Ac-Ala, Ac-Met and Ac-Ser. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:1861871, ECO:0000269|PubMed:2006156}. |Peptidase S9| |Abhydrolase 6| |Abhydrolase 5| |omega peptidase activity| |amyloid-beta metabolic process| |translational termination| |ficolin-1-rich granule lumen| |cellular protein complex disassembly| |serine-type endopeptidase activity| |nuclear membrane| |protein-containing complex disassembly| |translation| |cellular component disassembly| |peptide biosynthetic process| |neutrophil degranulation| |neutrophil activation involved in immune response| |neutrophil mediated immunity| |neutrophil activation| |granulocyte activation| |leukocyte degranulation| |myeloid leukocyte mediated immunity| |myeloid cell activation involved in immune response| |amide biosynthetic process| |peptide metabolic process| |myeloid leukocyte activation| |leukocyte activation involved in immune response| |cell activation involved in immune response| |regulated exocytosis| |leukocyte mediated immunity| |cellular amide metabolic process| |exocytosis| |leukocyte activation| |secretion by cell| |export from cell| |identical protein binding| |cell activation| |immune effector process| |secretion| |proteolysis| |RNA binding| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |protein-containing complex subunit organization| |immune response| |extracellular region| |vesicle-mediated transport| |gene expression| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found. ^Gene^Correlation^ |[[:human genes:h:hgc6.3|HGC6.3]]|0.404| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 5780 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 6.68 {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}}
