However, this gene has undergone a change in function in placental mammals compared to other species. Specifically, in fish, avian, and amphibian species, this gene encodes plasma membrane-bound beta-subunits of Na,K-ATPase. In placental mammals, the encoded protein interacts with the nuclear transcriptional coregulator SKIP and may be involved in the regulation of TGF-beta signaling. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]. * **UniProt Summary**: May act as a transcriptional coregulator during muscle development through its interaction with SNW1. Has lost its ancestral function as a Na,K-ATPase beta-subunit. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17592128}. |Na K-ATPase| |monovalent inorganic cation transmembrane transporter activity| |sodium:potassium-exchanging ATPase complex| |nuclear inner membrane| |nuclear envelope| |monovalent inorganic cation transport| |cation transport| |positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |ion transport| |integral component of plasma membrane| |positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |positive regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |positive regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of RNA metabolic process| |positive regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |positive regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of gene expression| |positive regulation of biosynthetic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Lead acetate 2000μM R08 exp498 no dilution day6|-2.53| |2-Deoxy-D-glucose 800μM R05 exp214|-2.3| |Vemurafenib 6.6μM R02 exp89|-1.9| |S-DABN 8μM R03 exp112|-1.81| |SNS-032 15μM R08 exp443|-1.8| |Vinorelbine 0.001μM R05 exp249|-1.75| |Lead acetate 2000μM R08 exp497|-1.71| |Amiloride 100μM R08 exp447|1.92| |CB-5083 0.4μM R08 exp468|2.04| |Phenformin 20μM R05 exp212|2.17| ^Gene^Correlation^ |HGC6.3|0.526| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/694 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/26| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/30| |central nervous system|0/49| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/11| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/14| |kidney|0/18| |liver|0/19| |lung|0/72| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/25| |pancreas|0/22| |peripheral nervous system|0/15| |plasma cell|0/12| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/20| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/28| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 12583 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 2.46
