The protein encoded by this gene is a lysophospholipase expressed in eosinophils and basophils. It hydrolyzes lysophosphatidylcholine to glycerophosphocholine and a free fatty acid. This protein may possess carbohydrate or IgE-binding activities. It is both structurally and functionally related to the galectin family of beta-galactoside binding proteins. It may be associated with inflammation and some myeloid leukemias. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Regulates immune responses through the recognition of cell-surface glycans. Essential for the anergy and suppressive function of CD25-positive regulatory T-cells (Treg). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17502455}. |Gal-bind lectin| |regulation of T cell anergy| |regulation of lymphocyte anergy| |regulation of T cell tolerance induction| |T cell apoptotic process| |cysteine-type endopeptidase activity involved in apoptotic process| |regulation of tolerance induction| |lymphocyte apoptotic process| |lysophospholipase activity| |leukocyte apoptotic process| |regulation of T cell cytokine production| |regulation of activated T cell proliferation| |regulation of T cell mediated immunity| |regulation of cytokine production involved in immune response| |regulation of production of molecular mediator of immune response| |regulation of adaptive immune response based on somatic recombination of immune receptors built from immunoglobulin superfamily domains| |regulation of lymphocyte mediated immunity| |regulation of T cell proliferation| |regulation of adaptive immune response| |carbohydrate binding| |regulation of leukocyte mediated immunity| |regulation of lymphocyte proliferation| |regulation of mononuclear cell proliferation| |regulation of leukocyte proliferation| |regulation of T cell activation| |collagen-containing extracellular matrix| |regulation of immune effector process| |regulation of lymphocyte activation| |regulation of leukocyte activation| |regulation of cell activation| |regulation of cytokine production| |apoptotic process| |programmed cell death| |identical protein binding| |cell death| |regulation of immune response| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |regulation of immune system process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp49|NFN1 0.1μM R01 exp49]]|-1.99| |[[:results:exp85|UM0129480 7μM R02 exp85]]|-1.74| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
