The encoded protein has a signal peptide, 27 cadherin repeat domains and a unique cytoplasmic region. This particular cadherin family member is expressed in fibroblasts but not in melanocytes or keratinocytes. The cell-cell adhesion of fibroblasts is thought to be necessary for wound healing. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Calcium-dependent cell-adhesion protein. Mediates functions in neuroprogenitor cell proliferation and differentiation. In the heart, has a critical role for proper morphogenesis of the mitral valve, acting in the regulation of cell migration involved in valve formation (PubMed:26258302). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:26258302}. |Cadherin| |condensed mesenchymal cell proliferation| |mitral valve formation| |cell migration involved in endocardial cushion formation| |atrioventricular valve formation| |mitral valve morphogenesis| |mitral valve development| |heart valve formation| |ossification involved in bone maturation| |cell migration involved in heart development| |mesenchymal cell proliferation| |bone maturation| |post-anal tail morphogenesis| |endocardial cushion formation| |animal organ maturation| |atrioventricular valve morphogenesis| |atrioventricular valve development| |hippo signaling| |endocardial cushion morphogenesis| |endocardial cushion development| |branching involved in ureteric bud morphogenesis| |calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion via plasma membrane cell adhesion molecules| |heterophilic cell-cell adhesion via plasma membrane cell adhesion molecules| |mesenchyme morphogenesis| |cochlea development| |heart valve morphogenesis| |ureteric bud morphogenesis| |mesonephric tubule morphogenesis| |heart valve development| |nephron tubule morphogenesis| |nephron epithelium morphogenesis| |nephron morphogenesis| |renal tubule morphogenesis| |apical part of cell| |nephron tubule development| |renal tubule development| |kidney morphogenesis| |ureteric bud development| |mesonephric tubule development| |mesonephric epithelium development| |mesonephros development| |nephron epithelium development| |nephron development| |kidney epithelium development| |branching morphogenesis of an epithelial tube| |digestive tract development| |anatomical structure maturation| |digestive system development| |morphogenesis of a branching epithelium| |neural tube development| |morphogenesis of a branching structure| |homophilic cell adhesion via plasma membrane adhesion molecules| |protein localization to plasma membrane| |inner ear development| |bone development| |mesenchyme development| |ear development| |protein localization to cell periphery| |developmental maturation| |heart morphogenesis| |cell-cell adhesion via plasma-membrane adhesion molecules| |ossification| |kidney development| |renal system development| |epithelial tube morphogenesis| |urogenital system development| |morphogenesis of an epithelium| |pattern specification process| |protein localization to membrane| |skeletal system development| |cell-cell adhesion| |heart development| |sensory organ development| |cell population proliferation| |tissue morphogenesis| |chordate embryonic development| |embryo development ending in birth or egg hatching| |tube morphogenesis| |calcium ion binding| |tube development| |circulatory system development| |anatomical structure formation involved in morphogenesis| |cell adhesion| |biological adhesion| |animal organ morphogenesis| |cell migration| |embryo development| |localization of cell| |cell motility| |epithelium development| |locomotion| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |neurogenesis| |intracellular signal transduction| |tissue development| |membrane| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
