This protein is an axonemal heavy chain dynein. It functions as a force-generating protein with ATPase activity, whereby the release of ADP is thought to produce the force-producing power stroke. Mutations in this gene cause primary ciliary dyskinesia type 3, as well as Kartagener syndrome, which are both diseases due to ciliary defects. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]. * **UniProt Summary**: Force generating protein of respiratory cilia. Produces force towards the minus ends of microtubules. Dynein has ATPase activity; the force-producing power stroke is thought to occur on release of ADP. Required for structural and functional integrity of the cilia of ependymal cells lining the brain ventricles. |AAA 5| |Dynein heavy| |MT| |AAA 9| |AAA 6| |AAA 8| |AAA 7| |DHC N1| |DHC N2| |9+2 motile cilium| |outer dynein arm| |lateral ventricle development| |outer dynein arm assembly| |ATP-dependent microtubule motor activity, minus-end-directed| |dynein light chain binding| |dynein complex| |ventricular system development| |epithelial cilium movement involved in extracellular fluid movement| |dynein intermediate chain binding| |extracellular transport| |dynein light intermediate chain binding| |axonemal dynein complex assembly| |cilium movement| |axoneme assembly| |sperm motility| |flagellated sperm motility| |microtubule bundle formation| |cilium-dependent cell motility| |cilium or flagellum-dependent cell motility| |axoneme| |determination of left/right symmetry| |determination of bilateral symmetry| |specification of symmetry| |microtubule-based transport| |telencephalon development| |microtubule-based movement| |microtubule| |cilium assembly| |cilium organization| |forebrain development| |pattern specification process| |plasma membrane bounded cell projection assembly| |cell projection assembly| |microtubule cytoskeleton organization| |heart development| |microtubule-based process| |brain development| |organelle assembly| |head development| |cellular protein-containing complex assembly| |circulatory system development| |central nervous system development| |cell motility| |localization of cell| |cytoskeleton organization| |plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |cell projection organization| |locomotion| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |ATP binding| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |protein-containing complex assembly| |protein-containing complex subunit organization| |extracellular region| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
