Collapsin response mediator proteins form homo- and hetero-tetramers and facilitate neuron guidance, growth and polarity. The encoded protein promotes microtubule assembly and is required for Sema3A-mediated growth cone collapse, and also plays a role in synaptic signaling through interactions with calcium channels. This gene has been implicated in multiple neurological disorders, and hyperphosphorylation of the encoded protein may play a key role in the development of Alzheimer's disease. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]. * **UniProt Summary**: Plays a role in neuronal development and polarity, as well as in axon growth and guidance, neuronal growth cone collapse and cell migration. Necessary for signaling by class 3 semaphorins and subsequent remodeling of the cytoskeleton. May play a role in endocytosis. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11477421, ECO:0000269|PubMed:15466863, ECO:0000269|PubMed:20801876}. |Amidohydro 1| |dihydropyrimidinase activity| |pyrimidine nucleobase catabolic process| |nucleobase catabolic process| |pyrimidine nucleobase metabolic process| |nucleobase metabolic process| |pyrimidine-containing compound catabolic process| |regulation of axon extension| |pyrimidine-containing compound metabolic process| |regulation of extent of cell growth| |regulation of cell size| |regulation of axonogenesis| |microtubule binding| |axon guidance| |neuron projection guidance| |regulation of cell morphogenesis involved in differentiation| |microtubule| |regulation of developmental growth| |axonogenesis| |regulation of cellular component size| |axon development| |regulation of cell growth| |cell morphogenesis involved in neuron differentiation| |heterocycle catabolic process| |cellular nitrogen compound catabolic process| |organic cyclic compound catabolic process| |neuron projection morphogenesis| |plasma membrane bounded cell projection morphogenesis| |cell projection morphogenesis| |regulation of cell morphogenesis| |regulation of neuron projection development| |regulation of anatomical structure size| |cell part morphogenesis| |nucleobase-containing small molecule metabolic process| |chemotaxis| |taxis| |endocytosis| |cell morphogenesis involved in differentiation| |regulation of neuron differentiation| |neuron projection development| |regulation of growth| |import into cell| |regulation of plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |regulation of cell projection organization| |cell morphogenesis| |brain development| |head development| |neuron development| |regulation of neurogenesis| |cellular component morphogenesis| |regulation of nervous system development| |regulation of cell development| |central nervous system development| |neuron differentiation| |regulation of anatomical structure morphogenesis| |organonitrogen compound catabolic process| |identical protein binding| |cytoskeleton organization| |plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |cell projection organization| |locomotion| |generation of neurons| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |neurogenesis| |cell development| |small molecule metabolic process| |organic substance catabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| |regulation of cell differentiation| |vesicle-mediated transport| |membrane| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found. ^Gene^Correlation^ |[[:human genes:h:hgc6.3|HGC6.3]]|0.468| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 9114 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 6.34 {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}}
