Desmogleins are calcium-binding transmembrane glycoprotein components of desmosomes, cell-cell junctions between epithelial, myocardial, and other cell types. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate the mature glycoprotein. This gene is present in a gene cluster with other desmoglein gene family members on chromosome 18. Mutations in this gene have been associated with arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia, familial, 10. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]. * **UniProt Summary**: Component of intercellular desmosome junctions. Involved in the interaction of plaque proteins and intermediate filaments mediating cell-cell adhesion. |Cadherin C| |Cadherin| |Purkinje myocyte development| |cell adhesive protein binding involved in bundle of His cell-Purkinje myocyte communication| |His-Purkinje system development| |bundle of His cell-Purkinje myocyte adhesion involved in cell communication| |cardiac muscle cell-cardiac muscle cell adhesion| |desmosome organization| |cardiac conduction system development| |bundle of His cell to Purkinje myocyte communication| |regulation of ventricular cardiac muscle cell action potential| |desmosome| |regulation of cardiac muscle cell action potential| |heterotypic cell-cell adhesion| |regulation of cardiac muscle cell contraction| |regulation of heart rate by cardiac conduction| |regulation of actin filament-based movement| |cell communication involved in cardiac conduction| |response to progesterone| |intercalated disc| |regulation of action potential| |ventricular cardiac muscle tissue development| |lateral plasma membrane| |cell adhesion molecule binding| |homotypic cell-cell adhesion| |maternal process involved in female pregnancy| |cornified envelope| |regulation of cardiac muscle contraction| |regulation of striated muscle contraction| |cardiac conduction| |regulation of heart rate| |cornification| |multicellular organismal signaling| |cell-cell junction organization| |regulation of muscle contraction| |cardiac muscle tissue development| |homophilic cell adhesion via plasma membrane adhesion molecules| |cell-cell junction| |female pregnancy| |response to ketone| |multi-multicellular organism process| |cell junction organization| |keratinization| |regulation of muscle system process| |regulation of heart contraction| |cell-cell adhesion via plasma-membrane adhesion molecules| |keratinocyte differentiation| |striated muscle tissue development| |regulation of blood circulation| |muscle tissue development| |epidermal cell differentiation| |apical plasma membrane| |response to steroid hormone| |skin development| |regulation of actin filament-based process| |epidermis development| |regulation of membrane potential| |cell-cell adhesion| |heart development| |cell junction| |regulation of system process| |cell surface| |epithelial cell differentiation| |intracellular membrane-bounded organelle| |calcium ion binding| |multicellular organismal reproductive process| |multicellular organism reproduction| |response to lipid| |circulatory system development| |response to hormone| |response to organic cyclic compound| |cell adhesion| |biological adhesion| |multi-organism reproductive process| |regulation of cellular component movement| |response to drug| |programmed cell death| |cell death| |epithelium development| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |response to endogenous stimulus| |response to oxygen-containing compound| |tissue development| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp350|Deferoxamine 11μM R07 exp350]]|1.85| |[[:results:exp218|A-395 10μM R05 exp218]]|2.02| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
