Has an important function at the level of mRNA turnover, probably acting downstream of decapping. Involved in actin dynamics and cell cycle progression, mRNA decay and probably in a pathway involved in stress response and maintenance of cell wall integrity. With syntenin SDCBP, functions as a regulator of p53/TP53 and p53/TP53-dependent apoptosis. Regulates also TNF- alpha-mediated apoptosis. Mediates effects of polyamines on neuronal process extension and survival. May play an important role in brain development and function, and in skeletal muscle stem cell differentiation. Also described as a cellular cofactor of human T-cell leukemia virus type I (HTLV-1) Rex protein and of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) Rev protein, essential for mRNA export of retroviral transcripts. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15371445, ECO:0000269|PubMed:15452064, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16987817, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17187778, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17360499}. |eIF-5a| |translational frameshifting| |positive regulation of translational termination| |positive regulation of translational elongation| |annulate lamellae| |regulation of translational termination| |U6 snRNA binding| |regulation of translational elongation| |translation elongation factor activity| |positive regulation of protein complex disassembly| |ribosome binding| |nuclear pore| |protein N-terminus binding| |mRNA export from nucleus| |mRNA-containing ribonucleoprotein complex export from nucleus| |regulation of protein complex disassembly| |translational elongation| |ribonucleoprotein complex export from nucleus| |positive regulation of translation| |ribonucleoprotein complex localization| |RNA export from nucleus| |protein export from nucleus| |positive regulation of cellular amide metabolic process| |mRNA transport| |nuclear export| |nucleic acid transport| |RNA transport| |establishment of RNA localization| |RNA localization| |nucleobase-containing compound transport| |protein-containing complex localization| |nucleocytoplasmic transport| |nuclear transport| |regulation of translation| |translation| |regulation of cellular amide metabolic process| |peptide biosynthetic process| |posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression| |amide biosynthetic process| |peptide metabolic process| |cellular amide metabolic process| |positive regulation of cell population proliferation| |apoptotic process| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |intracellular protein transport| |programmed cell death| |cell death| |positive regulation of cellular component organization| |RNA binding| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |protein transport| |intracellular transport| |peptide transport| |amide transport| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |positive regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |establishment of protein localization| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of protein metabolic process| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |establishment of localization in cell| |nitrogen compound transport| |positive regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of gene expression| |membrane| |gene expression| |positive regulation of biosynthetic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |FK-506 5μM R07 exp358|-1.95| |UM0125461 0.74μM R02 exp84|2.15| ^Gene^Correlation^ |HARS|0.436| |NARS|0.407| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 369/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|1/1| |909776.0|1/1| |bile duct|16/28| |blood|16/28| |bone|12/26| |breast|14/33| |central nervous system|34/56| |cervix|1/4| |colorectal|5/17| |esophagus|8/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|9/16| |kidney|3/21| |liver|13/20| |lung|38/75| |lymphocyte|11/16| |ovary|10/26| |pancreas|11/24| |peripheral nervous system|7/16| |plasma cell|13/15| |prostate|1/1| |skin|10/24| |soft tissue|6/9| |thyroid|2/2| |upper aerodigestive|9/22| |urinary tract|20/29| |uterus|5/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 1671 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 8.54
