Certain mutations in this gene are associated with the inflammatory arthritis syndrome ankylosing spondylitis and pre-eclampsia. This gene is located adjacent to a closely related aminopeptidase gene on chromosome 5. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016]. * **UniProt Summary**: Aminopeptidase that plays a central role in peptide trimming, a step required for the generation of most HLA class I- binding peptides. Peptide trimming is essential to customize longer precursor peptides to fit them to the correct length required for presentation on MHC class I molecules. Preferentially hydrolyzes the basic residues Arg and Lys. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12799365, ECO:0000269|PubMed:15908954, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16286653}. |Peptidase M1| |antigen processing and presentation of endogenous peptide antigen| |antigen processing and presentation of endogenous peptide antigen via MHC class I| |antigen processing and presentation of endogenous antigen| |metalloaminopeptidase activity| |aminopeptidase activity| |peptide catabolic process| |peptide binding| |metallopeptidase activity| |antigen processing and presentation of peptide antigen via MHC class I| |regulation of blood pressure| |antigen processing and presentation of peptide antigen| |antigen processing and presentation| |endoplasmic reticulum lumen| |blood circulation| |circulatory system process| |peptide metabolic process| |adaptive immune response| |cellular amide metabolic process| |zinc ion binding| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |organonitrogen compound catabolic process| |proteolysis| |organic substance catabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| |immune response| |system process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Lead acetate 2000μM R08 exp498 no dilution day6|-1.95| |BI-D1870 3.15μM R02 exp66|-1.94| |ML-792 0.2μM R08 exp505|-1.87| |Dinaciclib 0.007μM R07 exp355|1.95| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
