All of these glycoproteins consist of an identical alpha subunit and a hormone-specific beta subunit. This gene encodes the beta subunit of follicle-stimulating hormone. In conjunction with luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone induces egg and sperm production. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding the same protein. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Stimulates development of follicle and spermatogenesis in the reproductive organs. |Cys knot| |follicle-stimulating hormone activity| |follicle-stimulating hormone complex| |progesterone biosynthetic process| |Sertoli cell proliferation| |follicle-stimulating hormone signaling pathway| |progesterone metabolic process| |C21-steroid hormone biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of steroid biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of bone resorption| |positive regulation of bone remodeling| |positive regulation of steroid metabolic process| |C21-steroid hormone metabolic process| |ketone biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of tissue remodeling| |peptide hormone processing| |regulation of bone resorption| |ovulation cycle process| |steroid hormone biosynthetic process| |regulation of bone remodeling| |ovarian follicle development| |hormone biosynthetic process| |regulation of osteoclast differentiation| |ovulation cycle| |cellular ketone metabolic process| |regulation of tissue remodeling| |positive regulation of lipid biosynthetic process| |epithelial cell proliferation| |regulation of steroid biosynthetic process| |female gonad development| |development of primary female sexual characteristics| |hormone activity| |transforming growth factor beta receptor signaling pathway| |female sex differentiation| |regulation of steroid metabolic process| |regulation of myeloid leukocyte differentiation| |cellular hormone metabolic process| |steroid biosynthetic process| |female gamete generation| |male gonad development| |development of primary male sexual characteristics| |positive regulation of lipid metabolic process| |cellular response to transforming growth factor beta stimulus| |male sex differentiation| |protein processing| |response to transforming growth factor beta| |hormone-mediated signaling pathway| |regulation of signaling receptor activity| |female pregnancy| |regulation of lipid biosynthetic process| |transmembrane receptor protein serine/threonine kinase signaling pathway| |hormone metabolic process| |gonad development| |multi-multicellular organism process| |development of primary sexual characteristics| |regulation of myeloid cell differentiation| |protein maturation| |steroid metabolic process| |sex differentiation| |regulation of leukocyte differentiation| |rhythmic process| |cellular process involved in reproduction in multicellular organism| |regulation of lipid metabolic process| |reproductive structure development| |reproductive system development| |regulation of hemopoiesis| |positive regulation of cell migration| |cellular response to growth factor stimulus| |drug metabolic process| |positive regulation of cell motility| |peptide metabolic process| |response to growth factor| |regulation of hormone levels| |positive regulation of cellular component movement| |positive regulation of locomotion| |cell population proliferation| |lipid biosynthetic process| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |cellular response to hormone stimulus| |developmental process involved in reproduction| |gamete generation| |enzyme linked receptor protein signaling pathway| |cellular amide metabolic process| |multicellular organismal reproductive process| |sexual reproduction| |multicellular organism reproduction| |regulation of cell migration| |response to hormone| |regulation of cell motility| |positive regulation of cell population proliferation| |regulation of locomotion| |regulation of cellular component movement| |multi-organism reproductive process| |lipid metabolic process| |positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |cellular response to endogenous stimulus| |proteolysis| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |response to endogenous stimulus| |positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |extracellular space| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |positive regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |positive regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |regulation of immune system process| |positive regulation of RNA metabolic process| |positive regulation of multicellular organismal process| |small molecule metabolic process| |regulation of cell differentiation| |positive regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |positive regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |extracellular region| |positive regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of gene expression| |gene expression| |positive regulation of biosynthetic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
