Ligands of this family bind various TGF-beta receptors leading to recruitment and activation of SMAD family transcription factors that regulate gene expression. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate each subunit of the disulfide-linked homodimer. This protein plays a role ocular and skeletal development. Mutations in this gene are associated with microphthalmia, coloboma, and skeletal abnormalities in human patients. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2016]. * **UniProt Summary**: Growth factor involved in early embryonic development and adipose-tissue homeostasis. During embryogenesis controls formation of anterior visceral endoderm and mesoderm and the establishment of anterior-posterior identity through a receptor complex comprising the receptor ACVR1B and the coreceptor TDGF1/Cripto (By similarity). Regulates adipose-tissue homeostasis and energy balance under nutrient overload in part by signaling through the receptor complex based on ACVR1C and TDGF1/Cripto (PubMed:21805089). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q07104, ECO:0000269|PubMed:21805089}. |TGFb propeptide| |TGF beta| |formation of anatomical boundary| |primitive streak formation| |somite rostral/caudal axis specification| |negative regulation of epidermal cell differentiation| |negative regulation of epidermis development| |notochord development| |negative regulation of myoblast differentiation| |response to dietary excess| |gastrulation with mouth forming second| |regulation of cell fate commitment| |embryonic axis specification| |negative regulation of epithelial cell differentiation| |transforming growth factor beta receptor binding| |positive regulation of pathway-restricted SMAD protein phosphorylation| |negative regulation of BMP signaling pathway| |anterior/posterior axis specification| |regulation of myoblast differentiation| |SMAD protein signal transduction| |regulation of epidermal cell differentiation| |positive regulation of fat cell differentiation| |regulation of pathway-restricted SMAD protein phosphorylation| |embryonic pattern specification| |somitogenesis| |endoderm development| |somite development| |axis specification| |regulation of epidermis development| |regulation of BMP signaling pathway| |BMP signaling pathway| |segmentation| |positive regulation of transmembrane receptor protein serine/threonine kinase signaling pathway| |cellular response to BMP stimulus| |response to BMP| |negative regulation of transmembrane receptor protein serine/threonine kinase signaling pathway| |regulation of fat cell differentiation| |mesoderm development| |regulation of epithelial cell differentiation| |negative regulation of cellular response to growth factor stimulus| |gastrulation| |growth factor activity| |cytokine activity| |transmembrane receptor protein serine/threonine kinase signaling pathway| |anterior/posterior pattern specification| |regulation of transmembrane receptor protein serine/threonine kinase signaling pathway| |regulation of cellular response to growth factor stimulus| |regionalization| |eye development| |visual system development| |sensory system development| |in utero embryonic development| |embryonic organ development| |pattern specification process| |protein kinase binding| |skeletal system development| |response to nutrient levels| |cellular response to growth factor stimulus| |response to growth factor| |response to extracellular stimulus| |sensory organ development| |embryonic morphogenesis| |chordate embryonic development| |embryo development ending in birth or egg hatching| |negative regulation of cell differentiation| |enzyme linked receptor protein signaling pathway| |regulation of MAPK cascade| |anatomical structure formation involved in morphogenesis| |negative regulation of developmental process| |positive regulation of cell differentiation| |embryo development| |positive regulation of protein phosphorylation| |positive regulation of phosphorylation| |epithelium development| |positive regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |positive regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |cellular response to endogenous stimulus| |positive regulation of protein modification process| |negative regulation of signal transduction| |negative regulation of cell communication| |negative regulation of signaling| |positive regulation of developmental process| |regulation of protein phosphorylation| |response to endogenous stimulus| |regulation of apoptotic process| |regulation of programmed cell death| |regulation of phosphorylation| |extracellular space| |positive regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |negative regulation of response to stimulus| |cell development| |positive regulation of signal transduction| |regulation of cell death| |positive regulation of protein metabolic process| |tissue development| |regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |regulation of cell differentiation| |positive regulation of cell communication| |positive regulation of signaling| |regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |regulation of protein modification process| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
