The encoded protein is a proton-sensing receptor, inactive at pH 7.8 but active at pH 6.8. Mutations in this gene are a cause of amelogenesis imperfecta. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2017]. * **UniProt Summary**: Proton-sensing receptor involved in pH homeostasis. May represents an osteoblastic pH sensor regulating cell-mediated responses to acidosis in bone. Mediates its action by association with G proteins that stimulates inositol phosphate (IP) production or Ca(2+) mobilization. The receptor is almost silent at pH 7.8 but fully activated at pH 6.8. Function also as a metastasis suppressor gene in prostate cancer (By similarity). {ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:12955148}. |7tm 1| |cellular response to pH| |response to pH| |cellular response to environmental stimulus| |cellular response to abiotic stimulus| |inflammatory response| |G protein-coupled receptor activity| |response to abiotic stimulus| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |defense response| |integral component of plasma membrane| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Arsenic trioxide 60μM R08 exp449|-1.8| |Rapamycin 2μM plus FK-506 5μM R07 exp308|1.95| ^Gene^Correlation^ |RRM1|0.547| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 10043 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: -0.44
