The protein forms a ternary complex with insulin-like growth factor acid-labile subunit (IGFALS) and either insulin-like growth factor (IGF) I or II. In this form, it circulates in the plasma, prolonging the half-life of IGFs and altering their interaction with cell surface receptors. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: IGF-binding proteins prolong the half-life of the IGFs and have been shown to either inhibit or stimulate the growth promoting effects of the IGFs on cell culture. They alter the interaction of IGFs with their cell surface receptors. Also exhibits IGF-independent antiproliferative and apoptotic effects mediated by its receptor TMEM219/IGFBP-3R. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:20353938}. |Thyroglobulin 1| |IGFBP| |protein tyrosine phosphatase activator activity| |insulin-like growth factor binding protein complex| |insulin-like growth factor ternary complex| |insulin-like growth factor II binding| |type B pancreatic cell proliferation| |insulin-like growth factor I binding| |positive regulation of insulin-like growth factor receptor signaling pathway| |insulin-like growth factor binding| |negative regulation of smooth muscle cell migration| |positive regulation of myoblast differentiation| |regulation of insulin-like growth factor receptor signaling pathway| |fibronectin binding| |negative regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation| |regulation of myoblast differentiation| |regulation of smooth muscle cell migration| |epithelial cell proliferation| |regulation of glucose metabolic process| |regulation of phosphoprotein phosphatase activity| |osteoblast differentiation| |regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation| |regulation of cellular carbohydrate metabolic process| |regulation of protein dephosphorylation| |regulation of phosphatase activity| |regulation of carbohydrate metabolic process| |regulation of dephosphorylation| |negative regulation of cell migration| |ossification| |negative regulation of cell motility| |endoplasmic reticulum lumen| |negative regulation of cellular component movement| |negative regulation of locomotion| |post-translational protein modification| |negative regulation of protein phosphorylation| |regulation of cell growth| |regulation of small molecule metabolic process| |negative regulation of phosphorylation| |positive regulation of MAPK cascade| |cell population proliferation| |negative regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |negative regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |negative regulation of protein modification process| |positive regulation of apoptotic process| |positive regulation of programmed cell death| |regulation of growth| |negative regulation of cell population proliferation| |positive regulation of cell death| |regulation of MAPK cascade| |regulation of cell migration| |regulation of cell motility| |apoptotic process| |positive regulation of cell differentiation| |protein phosphorylation| |regulation of locomotion| |regulation of cellular component movement| |positive regulation of protein phosphorylation| |positive regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |negative regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |programmed cell death| |positive regulation of phosphorylation| |cell death| |negative regulation of protein metabolic process| |positive regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |positive regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |positive regulation of protein modification process| |negative regulation of signal transduction| |regulation of hydrolase activity| |phosphorylation| |negative regulation of cell communication| |negative regulation of signaling| |positive regulation of developmental process| |regulation of protein phosphorylation| |regulation of apoptotic process| |regulation of programmed cell death| |regulation of phosphorylation| |extracellular space| |positive regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |negative regulation of response to stimulus| |positive regulation of signal transduction| |regulation of cell death| |positive regulation of protein metabolic process| |regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |regulation of cell differentiation| |positive regulation of cell communication| |positive regulation of signaling| |regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |regulation of protein modification process| |extracellular region| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |BI-6727 0.04μM R03 exp98|1.81| |Nocodazole 0.2μM R00 exp24|1.81| |R-DABN 8μM R03 exp111|1.89| |Vinblastine 0.015μM R05 exp208|1.99| |DABN racemic mixture R03 exp93|2.04| |Nocodazole 0.2μM R02 exp64|2.23| |HMS-I1 10μM R06 exp256|2.35| |SB743921 0.001μM R05 exp244|2.51| |Nocodazole 0.1μM R03 exp94|2.91| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
