This cytokine regulates the activities of NF-kappaB and mitogen-activated protein kinases. This cytokine can stimulate the expression of IL6 and cyclooxygenase-2 (PTGS2/COX-2), as well as enhance the production of nitric oxide (NO). High levels of this cytokine are associated with several chronic inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and multiple sclerosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Ligand for IL17RA and IL17RC (PubMed:17911633). The heterodimer formed by IL17A and IL17F is a ligand for the heterodimeric complex formed by IL17RA and IL17RC (PubMed:18684971). Involved in inducing stromal cells to produce proinflammatory and hematopoietic cytokines (PubMed:8676080). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17911633, ECO:0000269|PubMed:18684971, ECO:0000269|PubMed:8676080}. |IL17| |fibroblast activation| |positive regulation of interleukin-23 production| |interleukin-17-mediated signaling pathway| |regulation of interleukin-23 production| |cellular response to interleukin-17| |response to interleukin-17| |positive regulation of cytokine production involved in inflammatory response| |positive regulation of osteoclast differentiation| |positive regulation of interleukin-6 secretion| |defense response to fungus| |regulation of cytokine production involved in inflammatory response| |response to fungus| |positive regulation of myeloid leukocyte differentiation| |regulation of osteoclast differentiation| |positive regulation of myeloid cell differentiation| |positive regulation of interleukin-6 production| |granulocyte migration| |regulation of myeloid leukocyte differentiation| |myeloid leukocyte migration| |positive regulation of cytokine secretion| |positive regulation of inflammatory response| |regulation of interleukin-6 production| |positive regulation of leukocyte differentiation| |cytokine activity| |cellular response to interleukin-1| |positive regulation of hemopoiesis| |response to interleukin-1| |regulation of cytokine secretion| |regulation of myeloid cell differentiation| |positive regulation of protein secretion| |regulation of leukocyte differentiation| |positive regulation of peptide secretion| |regulation of inflammatory response| |leukocyte migration| |external side of plasma membrane| |positive regulation of secretion by cell| |positive regulation of protein transport| |positive regulation of secretion| |positive regulation of cytokine production| |regulation of hemopoiesis| |positive regulation of establishment of protein localization| |regulation of protein secretion| |positive regulation of defense response| |regulation of peptide secretion| |inflammatory response| |positive regulation of response to external stimulus| |cytokine-mediated signaling pathway| |regulation of cytokine production| |regulation of protein transport| |regulation of peptide transport| |regulation of establishment of protein localization| |regulation of secretion by cell| |regulation of defense response| |regulation of secretion| |apoptotic process| |defense response to other organism| |cell migration| |positive regulation of cell differentiation| |positive regulation of transport| |cellular response to cytokine stimulus| |regulation of protein localization| |programmed cell death| |cell activation| |localization of cell| |cell motility| |cell death| |regulation of response to external stimulus| |response to cytokine| |cell-cell signaling| |positive regulation of immune system process| |positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |response to other organism| |response to external biotic stimulus| |locomotion| |response to biotic stimulus| |defense response| |positive regulation of developmental process| |regulation of response to stress| |positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |extracellular space| |positive regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |positive regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |regulation of immune system process| |positive regulation of RNA metabolic process| |positive regulation of multicellular organismal process| |regulation of cell differentiation| |regulation of transport| |immune response| |positive regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |positive regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |extracellular region| |positive regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of gene expression| |positive regulation of biosynthetic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp459|Bleomycin 5μM R08 exp459]]|1.97| ^Gene^Correlation^ |[[:human genes:h:hgc6.3|HGC6.3]]|0.438| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 15729 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: -7.68 {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}}
