Studies of the mouse and rat homologs have localized the kinase to the chromosomes during meiosis in spermatogenesis, specifically to the synaptonemal complex that exists while homologous chromosomes are paired. Mutations in this gene have been associated with ciliary defects resulting in retinitis pigmentosa 62. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]. * **UniProt Summary**: Essential for the regulation of ciliary length and required for the long-term survival of photoreceptors (By similarity). Phosphorylates FZR1 in a cell cycle-dependent manner. Plays a role in the transcriptional coactivation of AR. Could play an important function in spermatogenesis. May play a role in chromosomal stability in prostate cancer cells. {ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:12084720, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16951154, ECO:0000269|PubMed:21986944}. |Pkinase Tyr| |Pkinase| |negative regulation of non-motile cilium assembly| |negative regulation of cilium assembly| |regulation of non-motile cilium assembly| |negative regulation of plasma membrane bounded cell projection assembly| |photoreceptor cell maintenance| |negative regulation of organelle assembly| |photoreceptor connecting cilium| |photoreceptor inner segment| |intraciliary transport| |photoreceptor outer segment| |microtubule-based protein transport| |protein transport along microtubule| |retina homeostasis| |mitotic spindle| |regulation of cilium assembly| |motile cilium| |axoneme| |transport along microtubule| |midbody| |cytoskeleton-dependent intracellular transport| |negative regulation of cell projection organization| |microtubule-based transport| |tissue homeostasis| |protein autophosphorylation| |cilium| |regulation of plasma membrane bounded cell projection assembly| |regulation of cell projection assembly| |regulation of organelle assembly| |protein kinase activity| |protein-containing complex localization| |microtubule-based movement| |transcription coactivator activity| |multicellular organismal homeostasis| |anatomical structure homeostasis| |cilium assembly| |protein serine/threonine kinase activity| |cilium organization| |negative regulation of organelle organization| |plasma membrane bounded cell projection assembly| |cell projection assembly| |centrosome| |spermatogenesis| |male gamete generation| |microtubule-based process| |gamete generation| |regulation of plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |negative regulation of cellular component organization| |regulation of cell projection organization| |organelle assembly| |multicellular organismal reproductive process| |sexual reproduction| |multicellular organism reproduction| |regulation of cellular component biogenesis| |protein phosphorylation| |intracellular protein transport| |multi-organism reproductive process| |plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |cell projection organization| |phosphorylation| |regulation of organelle organization| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |ATP binding| |protein transport| |intracellular transport| |peptide transport| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |amide transport| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |establishment of protein localization| |positive regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |positive regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |homeostatic process| |intracellular signal transduction| |positive regulation of RNA metabolic process| |establishment of localization in cell| |nitrogen compound transport| |positive regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |positive regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of biosynthetic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp6|Bortezomib 0.005μM R00 exp6]]|2.04| ^Gene^Correlation^ |[[:human genes:t:tfrc|TFRC]]|0.402| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/726 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/25| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/15| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/14| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/7| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 6372 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 1.75 {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}}
