Its activity is necessary for the catabolism of N-linked carbohydrates released during glycoprotein turnover and it is member of family 38 of glycosyl hydrolases. The full length protein is processed in two steps. First, a 49 aa leader sequence is cleaved off and the remainder of the protein is processed into 3 peptides of 70 kDa, 42 kDa (D) and 13/15 kDa (E). Next, the 70 kDa peptide is further processed into three peptides (A, B and C). The A, B and C peptides are disulfide-linked. Defects in this gene have been associated with lysosomal alpha-mannosidosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]. * **UniProt Summary**: Necessary for the catabolism of N-linked carbohydrates released during glycoprotein turnover. Cleaves all known types of alpha-mannosidic linkages. |Glyco hydro 38C| |Glyco hydro 38| |Alpha-mann mid| |alpha-mannosidase activity| |mannose metabolic process| |oligosaccharide catabolic process| |vacuolar membrane| |protein deglycosylation| |oligosaccharide metabolic process| |azurophil granule lumen| |lysosomal lumen| |carbohydrate catabolic process| |hexose metabolic process| |carbohydrate binding| |monosaccharide metabolic process| |glycoprotein metabolic process| |carbohydrate metabolic process| |neutrophil degranulation| |neutrophil activation involved in immune response| |neutrophil mediated immunity| |neutrophil activation| |granulocyte activation| |leukocyte degranulation| |myeloid leukocyte mediated immunity| |myeloid cell activation involved in immune response| |myeloid leukocyte activation| |leukocyte activation involved in immune response| |cell activation involved in immune response| |regulated exocytosis| |leukocyte mediated immunity| |exocytosis| |leukocyte activation| |secretion by cell| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |export from cell| |cell activation| |immune effector process| |secretion| |extracellular space| |small molecule metabolic process| |organic substance catabolic process| |immune response| |extracellular region| |vesicle-mediated transport| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Resveratrol 16μM R03 exp147|-2.31| |CyclicAMP 200μM R08 exp475|1.79| |Cannabidiol 13μM R08 exp465|1.85| |ML-792 0.2μM R08 exp505|1.92| |UM0011500 10μM R05 exp246|1.94| ^Gene^Correlation^ |HGC6.3|0.591| |POLR2J3|0.435| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 8140 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 7.26
