Melanocortins (melanocyte-stimulating hormones and adrenocorticotropic hormone) are peptides derived from pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC). MC2R is selectively activated by adrenocorticotropic hormone, whereas the other four melanocortin receptors recognize a variety of melanocortin ligands. Mutations in MC2R can result in familial glucocorticoid deficiency. Alternate transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2014]. * **UniProt Summary**: Receptor for corticotropin (ACTH). This receptor is mediated by G proteins (G(s)) which activate adenylate cyclase (cAMP). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:19329486, ECO:0000269|PubMed:20371771}. |7TM GPCR Srsx| |7TM GPCR Srx| |7tm 1| |corticotropin receptor activity| |melanocortin receptor activity| |neuropeptide signaling pathway| |adenylate cyclase-activating G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |cAMP-mediated signaling| |placenta development| |cyclic-nucleotide-mediated signaling| |adenylate cyclase-modulating G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway, coupled to cyclic nucleotide second messenger| |second-messenger-mediated signaling| |reproductive structure development| |reproductive system development| |developmental process involved in reproduction| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |integral component of plasma membrane| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |intracellular signal transduction| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp229|Dimethyloxaloylglycine 100μM R05 exp229]]|-2.26| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
