MLH genes are implicated in maintaining genomic integrity during DNA replication and after meiotic recombination. The protein encoded by this gene functions as a heterodimer with other family members. Somatic mutations in this gene frequently occur in tumors exhibiting microsatellite instability, and germline mutations have been linked to hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer type 7 (HNPCC7). Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified, but the full-length nature of only two transcript variants has been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Probably involved in the repair of mismatches in DNA. |DNA mis repair| |MutL C| |HATPase c| |chiasma| |satellite DNA binding| |centromeric DNA binding| |female meiosis I| |MutLalpha complex| |mismatched DNA binding| |mismatch repair complex| |male germ cell nucleus| |synaptonemal complex assembly| |synaptonemal complex organization| |synaptonemal complex| |female meiotic nuclear division| |mismatch repair| |synapsis| |male meiotic nuclear division| |reciprocal meiotic recombination| |homologous recombination| |homologous chromosome segregation| |chromosome organization involved in meiotic cell cycle| |meiotic chromosome segregation| |meiosis I| |meiosis I cell cycle process| |female gamete generation| |meiotic nuclear division| |meiotic cell cycle process| |nuclear chromosome segregation| |DNA recombination| |meiotic cell cycle| |ATPase activity| |chromosome segregation| |nuclear division| |organelle fission| |cellular process involved in reproduction in multicellular organism| |chromatin binding| |DNA repair| |male gamete generation| |gamete generation| |DNA metabolic process| |cellular response to DNA damage stimulus| |multicellular organismal reproductive process| |sexual reproduction| |multicellular organism reproduction| |multi-organism reproductive process| |cell cycle process| |chromosome organization| |cell cycle| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |ATP binding| |cellular response to stress| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
