This protein is similar to a Saccharomyces cerevisiae protein that participates in segregation fidelity and crossing-over events during meiosis. This protein plays a role in promoting ionizing radiation-induced apoptosis. This protein forms hetero-oligomers with another member of this family, mutS homolog 4. Polymorphisms in this gene have been linked to various human diseases, including IgA deficiency, common variable immunodeficiency, and premature ovarian failure. Alternative splicing results multiple transcript variants. Read-through transcription also exists between this gene and the downstream chromosome 6 open reading frame 26 (C6orf26) gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]. * **UniProt Summary**: Involved in DNA mismatch repair and meiotic recombination processes. Facilitates crossovers between homologs during meiosis (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}. |MutS V| |MutS IV| |MutS III| |mismatched DNA binding| |mismatch repair complex| |mismatch repair| |DNA-dependent ATPase activity| |reciprocal meiotic recombination| |homologous recombination| |meiosis I| |meiosis I cell cycle process| |meiotic nuclear division| |meiotic cell cycle process| |DNA recombination| |meiotic cell cycle| |nuclear division| |organelle fission| |DNA repair| |DNA metabolic process| |cellular response to DNA damage stimulus| |cell cycle process| |cell cycle| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |ATP binding| |cellular response to stress| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Torin1 0.08μM R02 exp82|-2.43| |UM0129480 7μM R02 exp85|-1.79| |CR131-b 0.005μM R08 exp474|-1.76| |UM131593 0.2μM R03 exp106|-1.76| |BI-2536 0.001μM R01 exp41|1.8| |MSC2530818 10μM R07 exp379|1.93| |Ribavirin 10μM R01 exp52|2.02| ^Gene^Correlation^ |CDC73|0.487| |CDCA3|0.484| |TCEB3CL2|0.463| |RPS12|0.456| |KCTD17|0.454| |C14orf93|0.453| |DTL|0.453| |TBC1D3H|0.452| |VASN|0.452| |HAP1|0.449| |COPE|0.447| |C1QTNF9B|0.446| |CBWD3|0.446| |TBC1D3F|0.445| |TBC1D3|0.44| |NUPL1|0.439| |TBC1D3C|0.439| |RRN3|0.437| |CBWD5|0.435| |TBC1D3G|0.435| |TCEB3CL|0.435| |TCEB3C|0.433| |TBC1D3I|0.426| |SNRPA1|0.426| |TBC1D3E|0.425| |TBC1D3K|0.425| |CBWD6|0.424| |TBC1D3L|0.424| |SEC13|0.421| |SUPT5H|0.421| |HGC6.3|0.418| |EGR2|0.418| |DNTTIP2|0.416| |ORC1|0.415| |CDC6|0.407| |HIST2H3A|0.407| |HIST2H3C|0.407| |MFSD12|0.406| |PSMC6|0.403| |PSMB1|0.403| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 2232 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 6.4
