Myosin-binding protein C is a myosin-associated protein found in the cross-bridge-bearing zone (C region) of A bands in striated muscle. MYBPC3, the cardiac isoform, is expressed exclussively in heart muscle. Regulatory phosphorylation of the cardiac isoform in vivo by cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) upon adrenergic stimulation may be linked to modulation of cardiac contraction. Mutations in MYBPC3 are one cause of familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Thick filament-associated protein located in the crossbridge region of vertebrate striated muscle a bands. In vitro it binds MHC, F-actin and native thin filaments, and modifies the activity of actin-activated myosin ATPase. It may modulate muscle contraction or may play a more structural role. |fn3| |I-set| |C zone| |regulation of muscle filament sliding| |striated muscle myosin thick filament| |cardiac myofibril| |myosin heavy chain binding| |skeletal muscle myosin thick filament assembly| |striated muscle myosin thick filament assembly| |myosin filament assembly| |A band| |myosin filament organization| |skeletal muscle thin filament assembly| |titin binding| |skeletal myofibril assembly| |cardiac muscle fiber development| |striated muscle thin filament| |muscle alpha-actinin binding| |ATPase activator activity| |myosin binding| |cardiac myofibril assembly| |M band| |actin-myosin filament sliding| |muscle filament sliding| |regulation of actin filament-based movement| |structural constituent of muscle| |sarcomere organization| |ventricular cardiac muscle tissue morphogenesis| |sarcomere| |positive regulation of ATPase activity| |ventricular cardiac muscle tissue development| |muscle fiber development| |cardiac muscle cell development| |cardiac cell development| |myofibril assembly| |cardiac muscle tissue morphogenesis| |cardiac ventricle morphogenesis| |cardiac muscle contraction| |muscle tissue morphogenesis| |regulation of ATPase activity| |heart contraction| |muscle organ morphogenesis| |cardiac muscle cell differentiation| |actin-mediated cell contraction| |regulation of striated muscle contraction| |heart process| |cellular component assembly involved in morphogenesis| |striated muscle contraction| |actin filament-based movement| |actomyosin structure organization| |cardiocyte differentiation| |cardiac chamber morphogenesis| |cardiac ventricle development| |Z disc| |striated muscle cell development| |muscle cell development| |regulation of muscle contraction| |cardiac muscle tissue development| |cardiac chamber development| |striated muscle cell differentiation| |actin filament binding| |regulation of muscle system process| |actin filament organization| |muscle cell differentiation| |heart morphogenesis| |muscle contraction| |striated muscle tissue development| |muscle organ development| |muscle tissue development| |muscle system process| |regulation of intracellular transport| |regulation of actin filament-based process| |blood circulation| |circulatory system process| |supramolecular fiber organization| |muscle structure development| |actin cytoskeleton organization| |heart development| |tissue morphogenesis| |actin filament-based process| |regulation of system process| |organelle assembly| |positive regulation of hydrolase activity| |cellular component morphogenesis| |cellular protein-containing complex assembly| |circulatory system development| |anatomical structure formation involved in morphogenesis| |regulation of cellular localization| |cell adhesion| |biological adhesion| |animal organ morphogenesis| |regulation of cellular component movement| |identical protein binding| |cytoskeleton organization| |regulation of hydrolase activity| |positive regulation of catalytic activity| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |protein-containing complex assembly| |cell development| |tissue development| |positive regulation of molecular function| |protein-containing complex subunit organization| |regulation of transport| |system process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Nifuroxazide 5μM R03 exp102|-2.43| |VER-155008 3.9μM R06 exp301|-2.4| |Trimetrexate 0.03μM R08 exp535|-2.01| |Cisplatin 0.35μM R06 exp273|-1.85| |CVT-10216 0.1μM R06 exp278|-1.84| |Arsenate 40μM R06 exp264|-1.71| |Torin1 0.08μM R02 exp82|1.73| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
