This protein is expressed in pro-B-cells and is thought to play a role in their differentiation. In mice, expression of this gene is induced in the thymus when anti-CD3 antibodies are injected and large numbers of thymocytes undergo apoptosis. Mice deficient for this gene bred on a BALB/c background developed dilated cardiomyopathy and died from congestive heart failure. These studies suggest that this gene product may also be important in T cell function and contribute to the prevention of autoimmune diseases. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Inhibitory cell surface receptor involved in the regulation of T-cell function during immunity and tolerance. Upon ligand binding, inhibits T-cell effector functions in an antigen- specific manner. Possible cell death inducer, in association with other factors. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:21276005}. |V-set| |negative regulation of tolerance induction| |positive regulation of T cell apoptotic process| |regulation of tolerance induction| |positive regulation of lymphocyte apoptotic process| |positive regulation of leukocyte apoptotic process| |regulation of T cell apoptotic process| |regulation of lymphocyte apoptotic process| |T cell costimulation| |lymphocyte costimulation| |regulation of leukocyte apoptotic process| |negative regulation of immune response| |positive regulation of T cell activation| |positive regulation of leukocyte cell-cell adhesion| |positive regulation of cell-cell adhesion| |regulation of leukocyte cell-cell adhesion| |regulation of T cell activation| |humoral immune response| |positive regulation of lymphocyte activation| |external side of plasma membrane| |regulation of cell-cell adhesion| |positive regulation of cell adhesion| |positive regulation of leukocyte activation| |positive regulation of cell activation| |negative regulation of immune system process| |regulation of lymphocyte activation| |regulation of leukocyte activation| |adaptive immune response| |regulation of cell activation| |positive regulation of apoptotic process| |positive regulation of programmed cell death| |regulation of cell adhesion| |positive regulation of cell death| |negative regulation of apoptotic process| |negative regulation of programmed cell death| |apoptotic process| |negative regulation of developmental process| |negative regulation of cell death| |programmed cell death| |cell death| |positive regulation of immune system process| |regulation of immune response| |negative regulation of multicellular organismal process| |regulation of apoptotic process| |regulation of programmed cell death| |negative regulation of response to stimulus| |regulation of immune system process| |regulation of cell death| |immune response| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp503|Mitomycin-C 0.06μM R08 exp503]]|-1.71| ^Gene^Correlation^ |[[:human genes:p:prim1|PRIM1]]|0.5| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 2582 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: -4.27 {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}}
