In addition, it displays lipase and retinyl ester hydrolase activities. The encoded protein is highly conserved and is composed of a large, glycosylated extracellular domain composed of four tandem homologous domains, followed by a hydrophobic segment that anchors the enzyme to the membrane and a short C-terminal cytoplasmic tail. This gene has been identified as a candidate rheumatoid arthritis risk gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016]. * **UniProt Summary**: Membrane-associated phospholipase. Exhibits a calcium- independent broad substrate specificity including phospholipase A2/lysophospholipase activity. Preferential hydrolysis at the sn-2 position of diacylphospholipids and diacyglycerol, whereas it shows no positional specificity toward triacylglycerol. Exhibits also esterase activity toward p-nitrophenyl. May act on the brush border membrane to facilitate the absorption of digested lipids (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}. |Lipase GDSL| |retinyl-palmitate esterase activity| |positive regulation of acrosome reaction| |positive regulation of fertilization| |regulation of acrosome reaction| |lysophospholipase activity| |phospholipase A2 activity consuming 1,2-dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine)| |phospholipase A2 activity (consuming 1,2-dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine)| |phosphatidylcholine acyl-chain remodeling| |phospholipase A2 activity| |regulation of fertilization| |retinol metabolic process| |brush border membrane| |phosphatidylcholine metabolic process| |primary alcohol metabolic process| |positive regulation of reproductive process| |retinoid metabolic process| |diterpenoid metabolic process| |terpenoid metabolic process| |cellular hormone metabolic process| |isoprenoid metabolic process| |regulation of reproductive process| |ammonium ion metabolic process| |hormone metabolic process| |lipid catabolic process| |glycerophospholipid metabolic process| |alcohol metabolic process| |apical plasma membrane| |phospholipid metabolic process| |glycerolipid metabolic process| |organic hydroxy compound metabolic process| |positive regulation of multi-organism process| |regulation of hormone levels| |regulation of multi-organism process| |organophosphate metabolic process| |cellular lipid metabolic process| |lipid metabolic process| |small molecule metabolic process| |organic substance catabolic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp474|CR131-b 0.005μM R08 exp474]]|-1.97| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
