Vitamin B6 is a required co-factor for enzymes involved in both homocysteine metabolism and synthesis of neurotransmitters such as catecholamine. Mutations in this gene result in pyridoxamine 5'-phosphate oxidase (PNPO) deficiency, a form of neonatal epileptic encephalopathy. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Catalyzes the oxidation of either pyridoxine 5'- phosphate (PNP) or pyridoxamine 5'-phosphate (PMP) into pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12824491}. |Pyridox oxase 2| |Pyridox oxidase| |PNPOx C| |pyridoxamine-phosphate oxidase activity| |pyridoxine biosynthetic process| |pyridoxal phosphate biosynthetic process| |pyridoxine metabolic process| |pyridoxal phosphate metabolic process| |vitamin B6 biosynthetic process| |vitamin B6 metabolic process| |aldehyde biosynthetic process| |water-soluble vitamin biosynthetic process| |FMN binding| |vitamin biosynthetic process| |pyridine-containing compound biosynthetic process| |pyridine-containing compound metabolic process| |pyridoxal phosphate binding| |cellular aldehyde metabolic process| |water-soluble vitamin metabolic process| |vitamin metabolic process| |coenzyme biosynthetic process| |organic hydroxy compound biosynthetic process| |cofactor biosynthetic process| |coenzyme metabolic process| |cofactor metabolic process| |organic hydroxy compound metabolic process| |drug metabolic process| |organophosphate biosynthetic process| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |protein homodimerization activity| |organophosphate metabolic process| |oxidation-reduction process| |heterocycle biosynthetic process| |aromatic compound biosynthetic process| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |small molecule metabolic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |QNZ 0.01μM R05 exp241|-2.17| |Phenformin 20μM R03 exp143|-1.98| |Dynasore 10μM R04 exp180|-1.88| |Rotenone 20μM R00 exp34|-1.79| |Aminopterin 0.005μM R07 exp335|2.05| |Dimethyloxaloylglycine 100μM R05 exp229|2.08| |UM0125461 0.74μM R02 exp84|2.24| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
